No issues other than the pine will yellow with age. As long as there is no rapid change in moisture it should be fine. Climate will play a role. Hope this helps..

    Select Hardwood Floor Co.
T&G materials both hardwood & softwood make great additions to many design formats.

As producers of T&G hardwood flooring, we've been getting more requests for similar materials intended for use on both walls &/or ceilings... some in pine & fir.

Many people make the mistake (IMO) of installing material UN-finished... and then shooting final color &/or finish without sanding... this leaves & accents the "mill marks"... which may go unnoticed by everyone but a woodworker, but CORRECT sanding makes huge difference in the final outcome... once again, in my opinion.

Being SOFT woods doesn't make them any less prone to damage resulting from swings in the humidity or weather.
So... we typically sand & PRE-finish the materials, and while we're in process, we often "back-prime" the lumber as well... which establishes a balance between top & bottom, and helps offset the effects moisture may have if only one side of the material is sealed. Especially if it's being used outdoors.
And there is certainly a "trick" to sanding and staining softwoods...
Also, nowadays there are many "non-yellowing" finishes available, which HELPS by the fact that the finish itself, doesn't yellow (amber).

The traditional colorway of the Union Jack makes it a great accessory choice for any decorating style. It works great as a pillow in this cabin…

In her question, modryja notes that her husband's first choice for the walls was knotty pine. It's definitely the most classic choice and is certain not to just be a fad. The yellow-ish hue can be limiting when putting together color choices; I often recommend painting the wood out white for a fresh look.
