Choosing different types of tile can be a challenge. There are several factors to consider, coordinating the colors, mix and matching materials, as well as the depth of the individual tiles (different materials have different depths).

My suggestion would be to visit an home improvement store or tile store and look at examples of how they have mix and matched different tiles. Then use these ideas in your home. This way you can touch and see the tile as it would look in your home.

It's also great to go to tile stores that have large selections. Often times there are display tables, just for you to 'play' around with choosing different varieties of tile, before buying it!
