THOUGHTS FROM OUR FOUNDER, DAVE ARANEO I came into this business about forty years ago because I really enjoy working with the earth. I have always had a deep kinship with the workings of nature and how it sustains and forms itself. Nature has always been a driving force in art. The earth is shaped and sculped by wind and water and even when people tear it apart, if left alone, it with restore itself into beautiful landscapes. I have visited many places where people have adapted to challenging landforms. Instead of forcing a conventional structure they choose to compromise with the nature of the land resulting in functional and attractive landscapes. Cape Ann offers unlimited opportunities to interact with a complex topography to create amazing outdoor living spaces. The unique natural resources of quarried granite and stone by-products, that are commonly found throughout Cape Ann, often present amazing shapes and features we use in our work. I call this accidental art. The last ice age tumbled and discarded piles of stunning boulders which we frequently use in our projects. Through the years we have learned how to use these materials to create attractive and human friendly landscapes. The use of these native materials and design principles are present in our projects, whether it is a patio, retaining wall, garden bed or raised septic system.
