As a builder for over 25 years I had never had the need to hire a landscape architect until i built my own home in North Caldwell. I felt it was necessary to put the job in the hands of a pro since i had wet and clay soil conditions and North Caldwell does have a deer problem. I felt it prudent to hire a professional rather than researching deer resistant plantings. Mr. Davies and his staff had come up with a plan and planting schedule. The job looked great unfortunately my plants were being eaten by deer after the first day. I had spent over $25,000 in plantings and an additional $20,000 in labor just to plant deer feed. I am quite disappointed in Bruce Davies and his team. When i confronted Mr. Davies about the situation he reverted me to the back page of his contract where it indicates he is not responsible for damage caused by deer. This local "professional" knows about the deer issues we face and should have recommended deer resistant varieties or should have recommended different plants altogether. I am very disappointed in his work and would never use his services or recommend anyone use him, especially in an environment that has deer. He did recommend that spray my plantings with deer repellent- quite ingenious of him to think of such a measure.

Davies Associates has been performing landscape design services for us for about 10 years on both single family and multi-family projects. They have been very responsive to our needs, sensitive to our budget and timely in their work. I would highly recommend them.

The firm oversees installation to completion and perfection. Bruce Davies has impeccable taste, a gifted eye and an uncanny ability to create outdoor spaces that are stunning yet accessible - that are finished without being fussy - spaces you want to spend time in and return to again and again. Don't get me wrong - there is a "wow" factor to their work - but the "wow" comes, in my experience, from an aesthetic that is timeless yet fresh, that perfectly complements its surroundings and enhances the visuals at every turn. Davies Associates is equally skilled in planning the "unseen" facets of the landscape - adeptly handling such things as drainage issues and avoiding catastrophes that less experienced designers may not even contemplate or consider. I only wish I had more space - so I could continue to take advantage of their services.

Davies associates is a highly professional, and talented firm. They are versatile and produce beautiful designs for both commercial and residential projects. I would recommend them highly!

Bruce has an amazing eye and an incredible ability to pull different elements, architecture, landscaping, hard scaping, plants, water features etc. all together into one comprehensive design that brings out the best in each individual element whilst still all working together in harmony.
