About Us

New Amherst |Village is a beautiful development in the historic town of Cobourg. Each home we build in New Amherst is built with care and quality in mind. Our builder has taken the time to interpret the 19th century architecture that graces the historic town of Cobourg and has adapted the region's traditional designs to suit today's lifestyle. My mother in law lives here and is 89 and having difficulty getting around. She has resided in the home since March 2017. I stopped into the office on her behalf to report that her fireplace has never had the tile surround completed and that the painted board and Baton on garage could use another coat of paint. I also wanted to know if they had an approximate date for paving the back lane ways where she parks as it is quite rough and narrow. Max immediately seemed to be get his back up and explained there are procedures and protocols. Fine I get that but he did not give me a contact or number or name of someone who could help address these issues. After he repeated himself 3 times and told me he can't discuss with non homeowners I told him he was rude. I ended up walking out wondering if other homeowners get the same treatment.

New Amherst Homes is a wonderful development in Cobourg with friendly, knowledgeable staff. You are made to feel welcome from the start of your interest with them with no pressure to buy. Homes are well built and the employees are very helpful and never make you feel like you are being bothersome.

When I was looking for a neighbourhood to move into, I knew the moment I drove through New Amherst, that I had to make it home. I instantly fell in love with the look and feel of the neigbourhood and the location is second to none. I was going through a rough time in my life and the ladies in the sales office were absolutely wonderful and patient with me throughout the whole process of having a house built, including after sale service. The builder himself was also very nice and understanding of my situation. I absolutely LOVE my house. The only "complaint" I have is some issues are taking longer than I anticipated to be addressed but I'm confident they will get dealt with.

From the time we first heard about New Amherst Homes several years ago, this company remained at the top of the "where shall we live in our active retirement?" list. When the time came to take the big step, and after investigating other builders in the same area, we excitedly signed on the dotted line. The entire process, from the initial contract through the final inspection, proved to everything we had hoped for. Creative designs, very knowledgeable staff, clear and timely communication were combined with attention to detail. Our ideas for customization were encouraged and met with enthusiasm. Competent after sales service was greatly appreciated. We continue to love our home and the New Amherst community in which we live.

This is the best community we have ever lived in. With the garages in the rear, it makes the area more enticing to walk and interact with your neighbours. As a result, we have made so many friends that they feel like family. Everyone looks out for each other and is always there to help. So much time and effort by everyone has gone into making this a most perfect and beautiful place to live. The extra details in everything make this the best place to live.

New Amherst Ltd built our beautiful townhouse. The entire community is designed and developed by this innovative and forward thinking company. The workmanship is great and the attention to detail sets this builder/developer apart from the rest. Our streets, sidewalks, landscaping, street lights, parks and much more are being developed at the same time as the house, townhouses, and condos etc. I live in a grand community that is exactly what I was promised and continues to get better every day. I would not hesitate to recommend this community, developer and builder to anyone considering a new home.
