Black Diamond Contracting was outstanding in our significant renovation. Our project was considerable and continued to increase in scope and size. We put on an addition, which included two additional bedrooms and full baths (in law and au pair), a covered area for our outdoor grilling and eating area. In addition, we replaced our 1,800 square foot deck with a new one including sunken fire pit area. The exterior cedar siding was repaired, repainted and we added a significant amount of stone facade to both the front and rear of the house. The interior renovation included creating a more open concept of the house removing walls and creating more openings for entryways. We completely replaced the wood floors on both levels, as well as windows throughout the house (including several sliding and swing doors). The master bath bathroom, kid’s bathroom and powder room were totally redone with new vanities, tile and fixtures. Additionally, both our kitchen and HVAC system were removed and rebuilt during the project. The craftsmanship and quality of their work throughout was outstanding including resolving several existing condition issues. They were extremely hardworking and met every deadline. BDC was very up front with costs and changes in work orders as the scope changed providing us with accurate and detailed information to make good and timely decisions in the middle of the project. They were very responsive and we had a terrific working relationship with them from the start to finish. Sean and his team of Mario, Donal and Jeff were terrific professionals. We would recommend them to anyone looking for a great team to build or renovate their home

I give Black Diamond, Sean Connaughton (owner) and his entire team my highest marks for completing our construction project with professionalism, quality and respect. Completing this project during the Covid crisis presented multiple layers of complexity and challenge, including sourcing and competitively pricing the best materials and providing consistent work of the highest caliber. Sean is a great person and continued to communicate with me and my wife throughout the construction phases. The estimates for work costs were reasonable and landed close to actual costs. Problems and questions were immediately communicated and addressed with us and our architects. And the work is beautiful.

Sean and his team do a fantastic job. The quality of their work and their attention to detail is outstanding. Additionally, Sean is an excellent communicator who takes the time to make sure the client understands the different aspects of a job and the decisions to get made along the way. During the course of our renovation, which involved a remodeling of one floor, an entirely new second floor, and a new garage, we also found several pre-existing problems within our house that needed to be repaired or remedied. Where Sean distinguished himself is by coming up with creative resolutions to these problems and while limiting the additional costs. We were on a tight time frame and Sean and his hardworking crew worked six days a week to get us moved in on time. Even two years after our renovation was finished I can still follow up with Sean to ask him various questions about the house. Additionally, our neighbors had nothing but nice things to say about the various crew members, how accommodating they were to the neighbors and friendly to their children, and how they minimized the inconvenience to everyone around.

Sean of Black Diamond is a remarkably excellent contractor. And a great pleasure to work with. He is a superb communicator, and very much a "can do" GC. He answers his phone and returns emails, even if he can't until late at night. (He, in fact, just sent me an email (it's 10:15 pm) saying that he spoke - unsolicited - to our painter, who is starting tomorrow, and invited the painter to contact him with any questions about the work that had been done.) Ours was a relatively small job, and Sean nonetheless paid full attention to it. He updated us throughout on the status of the work and what was coming up. The two men on the job, Mario and David, were also just outstanding. They showed up on time, plainly knew what they were doing, diligently moved the job forward and were quite friendly and pleasant. They even came on a Saturday to finish up part of the job. Their work, re-siding and installing two outside doors, is flawless. I'm now thankful that the six (no exaggeration) contractors we tried to engage never showed up, or never called back or never returned my emails, after which we were directed to Sean by a neighbor. I met Sean through the client of a large, high end renovation - never having worked with him before. Throughout the project, Black Diamond continued to impress me with their professionalism, their resources, and their skilled crew. Sean may be the most dedicated GC I have worked with in my 25+ years as an Architect. There is no challenge that he shies away from, he is committed to providing the best possible solution for his client - both in terms of quality and cost, and he is a pleasure to collaborate with. He clearly understood what I and the client were looking for as an end product, and his contributions to solving the typical problems that can arise in a complex renovation where always productive and on the mark. Sean is a great contractor. He's very meticulous, communicative, and well spoken. He's very candid and straightforward and it's been a pleasure working with him. He's also got a great eye for design!
