"It is a dazzling place, full of lights, color, music, a world of fun and freedom. Throughout his life, Léger painted acrobats, clowns, tamers, jugglers or horses, always in action; for the artist it is a challenge to express the frenetic movement of the show. In addition, the circus is egalitarian, within it culture, music and the performing arts are within the reach of the general public. The circus represents freedom."
