The high traditional design of Old World is inspired primarily by classic European styles of antiquity. Clearly influenced by the later Renaissance period, which featured enrichment of ornament and outline, Old World reflects the elaborate details of the French and English translation of this significant architectural movement. Roman design standards like columns and pilasters were applied to furniture as well as a full complement of bases, cornices and pediments. The veneer is created by artistic use of cathedral cherry and exotic avodire veneers set off by fine herringbone inlay. Sculptural acanthus leaf carvings adorn the canted pilasters of the case pieces, and the case fronts are highlighted by a carved frame molding in a rhythmic Lamb's tongue motif.
The top features bold sunburst cherry cathedral veneers that are book matched and ordered within an oval design bordered by Herringbone inlay and set off by exotic avodire cross banding. The top edges have leaf carved gadroons. Generously scaled cabriole legs are carved with a multitude of scrolls, acanthus leaves and beads which terminate into gracefully scrolled feet. The apron rails are shaped with gently curves that follow the rhythmic movement of the top profile. Two 18" leaves are included and allow for a total length of 106". Folding apron rails facilitate storage of the leaves in the Wine and Cheese Sideboard. The finish is a rich and warm pomegranate shade that has both depth and clarity which allows the natural beauty of the wood graining to shine through. Burnished edges, hand rubbed fronts and machine rubbed tops provide a satiny glow that enriches the Old World feel of this collection.

Frequently Asked Questions
How tall should the dining table be?
Standard dining tables typically range from 28 to 30 inches in height, accommodating most chairs and providing comfortable leg space. For taller individuals, tables on the higher end of this range may offer more comfort, while shorter people might prefer tables at the lower end. Adjustable-height tables can also be a versatile solution to cater to everyoneʼs needs. What size table do I need for my dining room?
For a table seating four, aim for 36 to 44 inches in diameter (round) or width (rectangular). Six to eight guests require 44 to 54 inches, while ten or more need 54 inches or larger. Rectangular tables should be about 36 to 40 inches wide for comfortable dining. Consider an expandable table for flexibility with guest numbers, offering both space efficiency and accommodation for larger gatherings. How much room should be around a dining table?
Maintain at least 36 inches of space around your dining table to ensure easy movement of chairs and unobstructed passage for people walking by seated diners. What factors should I consider for a dining tableʼs durability?
Focus on materials that offer durability, such as hardwoods for wood tables, tempered glass for glass tables, and metals like stainless steel or wrought iron. Quality construction and joinery are crucial for longevity. How do I choose a dining table for a small space?
In small spaces, opt for tables with extendable leaves, drop-leaf designs, or round tables that can be neatly placed in corners. Light-colored or glass materials can help the space feel larger and more open.
