SMS Architects has had the opportunity to work with JL Builders several times over the past four years on new homes, remodels, and additions. We always enjoy working with Phil and Jevon - their personal attention to the client's needs and the project's details are terrific. JL Builders professional and pragmatic building approach produces a great finished product in a timely manner.

JL Builders did a magnificent job building our custom home. The level of attention and detail they gave our build was tremendous. They truly went above and beyond and were very eager to help in any way they could-- From picking out land, to going through revisions of plans, to even helping us along the construction loan process-- I can't say enough about how great these guys were. Many people think of a custom build as needing to come with a hefty price tag. But JL Builders gave us the opposite experience. Similarly styled & sized homes in our area are selling pre-built without the same level of customization for well above the total price we paid. JL Builders listened to our vision and worked solutions all along the way to give us exactly the house we wanted, and within our budget. But make no mistake there is no lack of custom details or high end fixtures and finishes. They built our completely custom house to the highest standards and included everything we asked for. If a selection we really wanted didn't fit the budget, they worked relentlessly to come up with a solution—meeting with additional vendors and exploring additional options to stretch our budget. We got it all-- Higher quality granite, hand-scraped hardwoods, highly custom lighting and plumbing fixtures, and top end mechanicals. Here are a few examples of the high end work they did: They sourced and restored an antique clawfoot tub for us, they custom built the wood-burning fireplace to our vision, they built a custom high end staircase, and they built a custom banquette for our eat-in kitchen. All of these touches gave our house the character we asked for. They were truly professional and they had a lot of knowledge and expertise not just in the build, but the whole process of custom construction. If you are considering building your own home and want a custom build at an affordable price, don’t settle for one of the main stream, cookie-cutter homebuilders-- I highly recommend you give JL Builders a call. I used this company as the contractor to oversee the replacement of my kitchen, island and powder room countertops. Existing counters were replaced with granite.
