Thom Torvend, AIA, CGBP has been designing homes of distinction throughout California and Nevada since 1981. At the heart of each project is the belief that each client, their site, their budget, and most of all their dreams, challenge us to create a home which is uniquely theirs. It is the thoughtful understanding of these often conflicting requirements which dreams are made of. A house merely meets its functional requirements. To become a "home" it must go far beyond mere function. It must respond to the emotional needs, desires, and dreams of those who will call it "Home."

Thom designed our new home; helped in the selection of our contractor and designer; and was available throughout the duration of construction. Although Thom has his unique design style, he was very accommodating to our suggestions and input throughout the design process. We are extremely satisfied with the results of our new home. He is thoroughly professional, yet personable, and easy to work with. We highly recommend Thom to anyone who is contemplating using the design services of an excellent architect. Thom is very professional and accommodating. We met with him several times from our projects' inception in 2013. Our project continued through the end of 2015. We completely renovated the ENTIRE house inside and out. (Down to the studs) We asked him to change the plans several times and he did so without making us feel like we were putting him out. He consulted with us several times via text, email, call, or in person. He referred us to contractors and designers which helped execute our vision. He has an opinion and helped us get what we wanted. Our home is beautiful now. Thank you Thom.

Thom designed our home in the Sierra's. This was the first experience we've had building a home and Thom made the process so easy. We only gave him some basic requirements we wanted to see in the home and after walking the property his creative talent resulted in the perfect mountain getaway. He was able to incorporate all of our needs with everything the property had to offer and the results were just amazing. If we have the opportunity to build another home, Thom will be the first person we would call. His patience and vision made him a pleasure to work with. Thom gets 5 stars.

Tom designed an elegant and very comfortable ski cabin for us. The distribution is well thought out and the architectural volumes are very well done, taking full advantage of the site and the views. Tom listened to our concerns and constraints and was a pleasure to work with.

Thom Torvend has done three projects for me. A custom 4500 sq ft residence, a remodel of a vacation home and a remodel of corporate offices. His ability to come up with very artistic and creative solutions are among his great traits. He has all the knowledge and skills to work through the complex building process and his easy going personality made each project a pleasure with fantastic results.

We have hired Thom Torvend to design 2 homes for us in the past 10 years, as well as buildings for our business. Thom is exceptionally creative and his designs are timeless. His attention to detail is impeccable making his homes stand out amongst all others. Apart from Thom's design abilities, he has great rapport with all contractors, and vendors. A real pleasure to work with him. Made the design process a real joy. Thom is very good about designing what the client wants and keeping within their individual style. Thom is also good at providing the client with several options to choose from in certain aspects of the projects. Thom Torvend continues to maintain a reputation of designing high quality timeless homes, as well as commercial buildings. I will post photos upon completion.
