Discount Blind and Shade

The roots of the present day Discount Blind and Shade Company started in the 1930s in Brooklyn, New York when the Holtzman family was taught the glass and blind trades by a family friend. It continued after World War 2 when after coming home, Emmanuel Holtzman opened a window-covering store, also in Brooklyn, joining two older brothers, Isadore and Sammy who were already in the business. This is where our present day founder, Andrew Holtzman learned the trade of fabricating, selling and installing all types of window coverings. In 1973 upon the death of Sammy, the last of the original Holtzman brothers, Andrew bought Sammy’s store and continued the family business. It is here that his wife Fran also learned the trade. In 1981 Andrew and his wife Fran decided to move their family to Dunnellon, Florida and to open a new enterprise, Discount Blind and Shade. The lessons taught to us by our predecessors will never be forgotten. Among them are: Provide quality products at a fair price. Provide expert measuring and custom installation. Do the work accurately and correctly. Provide prompt, reliable and consistent service.
