I hired btp poxycrete to do concrete countertops in my new house. I was taken to a job site to look at prior work and I have to say I was very impressed with the job the owner Tom took me to. I gave my deposit for half the job which is no issue, and fair in my opinion. The owner never came to my house to review the job, he went off drawings from Home Depot. The square footage was actually 4 sq feet less than the rendering from Home Depot. Which when paying over 50 dollars a square foot adds up. Tom assured me I would be getting the additional money back and it wasn’t a big deal. Fast forward to the work, they came December 11th. The owner told me they are using a superior product and it’s 1,000.00 dollars per kit. When they came to do the counter tops, I googled the product they were using and it was about 200 dollars. Tom sold me on the promise that it would look just like natural stone. The end product came out so terrible that even the contractor Tom uses to do the work and Tom himself said it didn’t look good, and I quote the installer saying “ I’m actually embarrassed.” The tape ripped off paint in the kitchen and on the cabinets sides. They got epoxy all over the floor and cabinets. They agreed to come back to fix the counters and other issues and that entailed starting the whole job over from start to finish. It took them a month to come back to do the work, and that required me hounding them to get them back over. This also requires days of an usable kitchen as you have dripping epoxy and materials and plastic for 3 days, unmounting your sink, unhooking the dishwasher, disposal, and faucet, and then putting it all back in place for a 2nd time after the new work was performed. Tom never told me a definitive date like i asked for so i could prepare by having the plumbing and sink removed, and work my schedule around them coming. Instead, i hounded him to come back and finally he said we’ll come Monday, which was the next business day. I was required to get all the stuff removed and also change my schedule to accomdate them, after they agreed it wasn’t good work. After they finally came back, I was told we would do 2 days of work and the 3rd day of clean up. My girlfriends birthday happened to be on that Thursday after the Wednesday they were going to be cleaning up. Fast forward to Tuesday the installer “ forgot “ some of the materials, and had to delay the project another day. In normal circumstances a day isn’t a big deal, but this is a very invasive process and leaves your whole house in shambles( no appliances, no sink, and dripping messes everywhere.). I was actually some what pleased that despite it not coming out good, they were at least trying to make it right because they admitted it wasn’t good work. Fast forwArd to the work being done, it came out a little better the second time, however the work is still less than sarisfactory. I have a spice rack that rolls out, and the installer actually epoxied it into place. The edges are all over the place, and I had to go through the most nightmarish experience I’ve ever had with a contractor. Tom the owner then continued to blame the finished product on my lack of “ research and understanding “ of his product. That I should know it wasn’t going to come out perfect because it isn’t concrete. He also continued to tell me that my contractors who built the countertops, had no idea what they were doing and it’s my fault. Interestingly enough, the installer said they were by far the best countertops he’s ever seen built by a homeowner. The owner blatantly lied about the cost and quality of his materials. He completely misrespesented his products. Days later after showing him everything that was wrong with the countertops, he posted an ad for countertops using my kitchen saying that he saved me 6 thousand dollars on a high end look and that the counters came out beautiful. I never received a quote or told him I received a quote for 9 thousand dollar counter tops. Worst experience I’ve ever and I’ve worked with close to 50 contractors.
