Punctual, generally good to work with, reasonable price, counters looked good on install. I was sold the Matt finish. This is no finish at all, as any liquid, including water, will stain the stone. Perhaps the installers did not use a sealer at all. A few months later, in spite of the care that we took, my counter is full of stains that cannot be removed. Her suggestions to remove stains did not work. Salesperson basically said not to use counter as a counter and gave me the number of a refinisher that i was to pay for.

It appears the stains that you are concerned with might have been caused by something other than water such as oil spills or certain chemicals. It is a natural property of granite to absorb liquids due to its porous structure, especially with a leathered finish. Although sealing the countertops with a granite sealer that was applied during the installation process (a standard industry practice) helps to prevent instant absorption of the spilled liquids, it does not completely eliminate this issue, especially if chemicals are used to clean the granite as they strip the protective coating with each cleaning. It is for this reason our installation completion form clearly states that natural stone countertops require proper maintenance such as use of cutting boards/trivets, cleaning with non-abrasive cleaning products, re-sealing and preventing the spills of harsh chemicals & oil.

As indicated on our contract and installation completion form, KSD cannot be held responsible for the natural qualities of granite such as liquid absorption due to improper care and maintenance. In order to upkeep your leathered granite countertops, we would recommend buying one of the granite cleaning sprays available at home improvement stores or online. We also referred you to a sealing company that can re-seal your countertops, where they warranty their seal based on the material. Meaning if you have any problems within that time, they will come out to service your countertop seal. It is very important to prevent any spills from remaining on the countertop for an extended period of time as it might cause some moisture to be absorbed into the stone.

Especially with Kathryn, who is communicative, knowledgeable, helpful, and absolutely as proactive as they come. They deliver what they promise, and are more schedule-conscious than even WE are! If you're looking for a soft, demur interaction and a warm fuzzy installer you'd rather have dinner with than trust with your kitchen, this isn't the company for you. But if you'd rather be told the truth, given all kinds of info. you didn't now you needed in a kind but straight-forward way, and get things done at the best price around and ON TIME, EVERY TIME...GO..NOWHERE ELSE!

We had quartz countertops installed in our kitchen last May and Kitchen Stone Design did a fabulous job with the entire process. We priced out the same quartz with various different vendors in the Capital Region and not only did they give us the most competitive pricing, they were very easy to work with. The measure and installation was quicker than any of their competitors and it looks great. Would definitely recommend them to others and already have had several others use them as well!

KSD was terrific for our kitchen remodel project and our choice of granite countertops. Kathryn made the whole process very easy and stayed in communication with us throughout. We were able to visit their warehouse to pick out the actual granite slabs we wanted and the employee there was super helpful as well. We had been referred to KSD by a few people and what makes them unique in the local market is their ability to come out to your house, measure the countertop area and then return 3-4 days later to install. It worked out great and the counters look fantastic!

Kitchen Stone Design not only met our tight deadline, but they saved my project! We were managing the renovation of an REO asset on behalf of a bank (to start with not many companies like to work with bank owned homes), and we were already delayed on the project by several months. When it came time to order the granite countertop, Kitchen Stone Design helped us out by taking less than a week to get the whole process done. They showed up when they said they would, took measurements, got it cut, delivered, and installed on a Saturday morning as promised. I can't recommend this company enough.
