I’d always loved Adirondack chairs because they were so darn comfortable. They have that perfect angle that just forces you to relax. So when I wanted some chairs for my own patio, they were a natural choice. Now, being an artist, I like to put my own touch on things, so I decided to hand paint my chairs with images that were appealing to me: fun, bright, bold images of things I love, namely sports and tropical locales. Then a funny thing happened. Everyone who saw them loved them and they all wanted to know how they could get one for their own backyards and vacation homes. That’s when I realized I might have something. But, if I was going to do this, I wanted to do it right. I scoured the globe (via my laptop, butt still in chair) to find the very best Adirondack chair—one that was sturdy, affordable—and foldable—so it was easy to transport and store. After months of searching, I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. But that’s when it occurred to me–I could have it designed! Turns out, I’ve got a great woodworker just about an hour from me who is now building the chairs exactly the way I want them. I've refined paint and print process for fade-resistant images and an all-over protective finish. What I ended up with was a functional piece of furniture that just happens to be incredibly cool looking. And that’s how LIFE OF LEISURE was born.
