Strotman Appliance Service

The owner, Eric Strotman came out to repair what I thought was a Viking downdraft vent. I assumed it was a Viking because the range/oven components that were part of the total configuration were also Viking. Eric came out, tinkered around with the broken button, called his Viking parts person, and reported back to me that they no longer make parts for this downdraft. He suggested I buy a new one. He charged me $80 for his service call and left. So, on the recommendation of Strotman, I called Mountain High Appliances, where I purchased the downdraft, and they sent over a technician to preview my range/oven/downdraft configuration so they could properly recommend a replacement. Their technician actually pulled out my oven (what a concept) and told me it was NOT a Viking, but a Dacor downdraft vent and gave me the model number from it. He also assured me that they still make replacement parts for it. He charged me $75 - but at least now I had accurate information and was on my way. After spending $155, and still possessing a broken downdraft, I decided to call Strotman Appliance Service back to let them know what happened and to ask if they would kindly remedy this situation by repairing the part without an additional service fee. I explained what had happened and the receptionist assured me that Eric Strotman would call me back. I NEVER got a call back. I called again in a few weeks and was asked to repeat all the details over again. The loyal customer service woman, once again, agreed that Eric Strotman needed to call me back to resolve this issue, and once again, assured me he would call back. NO CALL AGAIN!! His lack of courtesy is what gives the appliance repair business it's perceived shady image. Strotman appliance earned this horrible review! Very unprofessional! Beware…. As a footnote, I had All Appliance Service come out last week and they replaced the broken part in the vent in under 15 minutes. It was no big deal in the hands of people who know what they are doing.
