About Us

BRADLEY WALTERS, AIA, NCARB, is an Architect and Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Florida, where he is the Graduate Program Coordinator for the School of Architecture. Mr. Walters teaches studio design, drawing, materials coursework, and architectural detailing. His current research is centered on high-performance zero-energy buildings, within a broader context of social, artistic, and cultural production. This work engages building science, thermal/energy modelling, climatic responses, and materiality. Secondary areas of research include teaching methods, pedagogy, and visual communications. Mr. Walters earned his Master of Architecture degree from Princeton University and a Bachelor of Design in Architecture with Highest Honors from the University of Florida. He has studied and taught at the Vicenza Institute of Architecture in Vicenza, Italy and teaches studios for the University of Florida’s Master of Sustainable Design Program in Singapore. Mr. Walters was the Principal Investigator for the Quinlivan Net-Zero Energy House and the Solar Living House, designed for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon 2015 project. He was a co-principal investigator for the award-winning Project RE:FOCUS, a design-build project constructed for the Solar Decathlon Europe 2010 in Madrid, Spain. He was awarded a University of Florida Term Professorship in 2017, an Excellence Award for Assistant Professors in 2014, and was recognized as “Teacher of the Year” by the University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning in 2011. In practice with Hillier Architecture and RMJM, he co-directed a special projects team, where his work included the House at Leeside Farm, Solebury School Abbe Science Center, Becton Dickinson Campus Center, Walker Hall Winery, Irving Convention Center, and West Windsor Redevelopment Plan, amongst others. His work has been recognized by numerous AIA Honor and Merit Awards, and it has been published by Architectural Record, Urbanism and Architecture, A+D, ARQ, Hinge, and Oculus. Mr. Walters serves as an independent peer reviewer of manuscripts for numerous publishers and has served as a peer reviewer for the National AIA Case Studies Initiative. He has served as an invited critic on design reviews at the Univerza v Ljubljani Fakulteta za Arhitekturo (Ljubljana, Slovenia), University of Nebraska at Lincoln, University of Virginia, and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
