Walter Chapman from Chapman Design really listens to his clients when he designs a home or renovation for them. He takes into consideration the client's budget and their desires. Walter is also there to problem solve when any issues arise during construction and works with the contractor and client to resolve them; ensuring the client is happy/satisfied with the solution. I recently built a new spec house designed by Chapman Design Associates, and would definitely go with them again. The project received a great deal of praise in the community, and had multiple offers from a diverse range of buyers. They are capable of doing projects large or small. I have also worked with them on two remodels for my own home, which turned out beautifully and substantially enhanced both the aesthetics and functionality of the house. We picked Walter as the architect for our major remodel because he made the process more about our requirements and desires than about any specific design style. Walter exceeded our expectations in designing our dream family home. Walter is very creative and innovative and an absolute pleasure to work with. We had many specific requests and he paid close attention and delivered in every detail of our vision. His ability to visualize and draw in the moment often allowed the creative process to far exceed our expectations and vision of the house. His use of space and light with high ceilings has made our home feel open, airy, warm, and happy. He is highly engaged, responsive, and reliable. Most importantly he is funny, patient, and kind. Walter designed our complete house remodel in 1995, and we were very happy with the service he provided, and with the results. He is very familiar with the departments, policies and procedures of Los Altos, and processing the design through the city was very smooth. Walter's design was creative and fit our needs. Now our children have grown and moved out we are moving on to remodel our master bathroom, and are using Walter again, so we are working with him currently (as well as in 1995). Cost reflected below is for the whole house remodel. The cost of the bathroom should be less than $100,000.
