About Us

Paul Biddle (principal) trained under Uruguay's Rafael Vinoly Architects PC in New York after graduating from the School of Architecture at The University of Virginia. He first designed houses in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado before opening his own firm, Drexel Design, in Los Angeles. His classical training and passion for building "green" made Paul the perfect choice for Diane Lander-Simon when she decided to build a LEED certified, old fashioned farm house. From first sketch to final LEED certification, Paul led the team that tried and perfected materials and methods that will help set the standards for building green homes.

We worked with Paul for five years developing a plan for our brand new house (the Studio City one), and we cannot recommend him more highly. The thought, creativity, and enthusiasm Paul brought to the project made what is a normally an incredibly difficult and stressful venture actually very smooth. He really understood what our needs and aesthetic were and found ways to incorporate his own new ideas to amplify the project. He oversaw every single detail of the build, including weighing in on the landscape and fence and gate, just because he cares that deeply about seeing his project through. He also was sensitive that we were on a budget and worked hard to try to find creative solutions to some of our financial challenges. We love Paul and we love our house!!

We hired Drexel Design to remodel our house after having gone through the conceptual stage with another firm. Paul took our concepts and created full plans that we were very pleased with. The house is just beautiful and functional, and after living in it for over 5 years, we still love every aspect of it. Paul is a skilled and experienced architect, easy to work with and was instrumental in getting us through the city approval process in record time.
