Moreland Architecture + Sustainable Design

Working with Randy was terrific. He listened to our wants and needs and found creative and beautiful ways to implement them. Some of his designs provided storage spaces that we conveyed a need for but didn't think we would be able to actually have, Randy found a way. We are very happy with our project and thankful to Randy for his innovation and design.

Moreland Architecture designed an addition to my home. Addition included a master bedroom suite with full bath, two walk in closets, all over a full basement. Design included a complex integration of multi-level roofs, and added access to attached garage from inside the house. He also represented me with our contractor to ensure our design was implemented properly. The contractor was experienced and intimidating at times, Moreland always stuck up for our interests. Moreland provided services from out of state- yet, he obtained all the requisite knowledge of our local (Maryland) codes and made several trips to the site throughout the project. Moreland is an expert in sustainable design. He provided ideas from roof top gardens, geo-thermal energy, low-emission paints, and many others; he had a sustainable idea for almost every aspect of the job. He explained all the possibilities, and was accommodating to our needs and budget limits- which limited us to bamboo floors, skylight, added insulation. He listened extensively to our family's big picture needs and reasons for the addition and was able to recommend ideas we had not thought of, such as planning details which made our addition accessible for a handicapped family member. He also accompanied us on several trips to pick out bathroom and lighting fixtures, and finishes. Having him in the store with us was amazing, and we knew we wouldn't get taken advantaged of by a sales rep. The new master bedroom has been a wonderful retreat from the rest of the child-overrun home.
