stephen s. magliocco associates is an award winning architectural office with over 30 years of experience in residential and commercial design. A graduate with honors from the Rhode Island School of Design with degrees in Fine Arts and Architecture, Principal Stephen Magliocco holds architectural registrations in Massachusetts and Florida. Magliocco Design provides innovative design solutions that consistently meet the varied needs of an extensive client list located throughout the country. Recent projects can be seen in Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Manhattan, and on Cape Cod. As a successful “niche” architectural practice Magliocco Design works closely with each client from project inception through planning, design and building to provide customized solutions that are clear and thoughtful; rational and beautiful. Stephen Magliocco’s designs are not formulaic or subject to trends. Instead, they are environments where the interplay between creation and articulation meet. Steve was a pleasure to work with. He was on-site almost daily. He took our dumpy old saltbox home and created a contemporary masterpiece. He calmly accepted our project creep and was collaborative with his vision. His help with fixtures and finishes pulled it all together. Steve was very responsive to us as his clients and very good with all of the contractors working on the house. He was firm when he needed to be and flexible when we needed him to be. The project was finished on time despite some setbacks with permitting. Best of all, he was fully stocked with treats for the dogs each time he visited!

In 2012, my wife and I hired Steve Magliocco to design our dream house and it was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Through every step of the process, from design to construction, Steve was there for us. He patiently and attentively listened to our ideas and hopes and presented various designs (especially when we decided to go from a single-story structure to a two-story) until he gave us exactly what we had dreamed of. Steve is very gifted and passionate in a creative sense, but he's also a kind, thoughtful, and sensitive person. Our interactions with him were always even-tempered, fun, and collaborative. We always felt that his goal was to make us happy. He wasn't trying to shove a design aesthetic down our throats. He had to deal with some unique demands - including a year-round indoor swimming pool - but did so with intelligence and artistry. He worked well with our contractor ands construction team and was available for any question we had. We love our house and are very grateful that we made the right choice in hiring Steve.

Throughout 2011, Stephen designed our home in Fort Lauderdale and was the project manager. Our home won an award from the city, and appears on the city website as an example of the type of single family home development the city encourages in Victoria Park.

It was an oddball octagonal house until Stephen Magliocco entered the picture. Steve transformed it into an elegant retreat, deftly refining the weird geometries of the interior into a sunlit, open environment and softening the exterior to integrate it magically into the wooded setting. Steve brought ideas but respected our vision and our budget. He is responsive, attentive and collaborative. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

My wife and I have been aware for many years of Stephen Magliocco's extraordinary residential architecture and recently contracted with him to redesign the existing interior of our condominium unit in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. The result is stunning! The 12,50 foot square unit was originally divided quite simply into 2 parts and Stephen has broken the space up into a private office space, a private main bedroom, a guest bedroom, a large light filled kitchen and dining area, a laundry room, a beautifully appointed bathroom with walk in shower, a pantry and 2 large storage closets. We have in fact a brand new home thanks to his incredible imagination and vision. His sense of light and how best to orchestrate a number of spaces within a relatively small area has established both a quality of intimacy and discovery. The highly skilled workmanship visible in our home indicates the highest level of integrity and professionalism for which we are most grateful.

Stephen designed a home for us that is much more than I thought a home could be. It is perfectly proportioned and well suited to our needs for privacy, open space, work space and visitors. Rather than simply selecting materials Stephen chose to make a home with spaces that are constructed with the interaction of material and light, proportion and use. As someone drawn to interesting urban settings I had never lived in a home designed by an architect. Instead I used location and proximity as guides and often made the best of available space and circumstance. Working with Stephen has taught me that a well designed home is a place where self regard and human rights are encouraged and can flourish. I am engaged with the spaces I live in and feel an involvement that is much more meaningful than ownership. I no longer 'make the best of....' Stephen has made the best.

We hired Mr. Magliocco to design our house on Cape Cod. We had a unique situation since we were unable to personally view the parcel of land that our home was to be built on. We were depending on Mr. Magliocco to make this project work in a space we had never seen. We spoke with Stephen at length about our needs , accessibility issues, one floor living, dog friendliness, and how to make all this fit into the allowed area and budget. Not only did Mr. Magliocco design us the home we needed but went above and beyond in designing us a beautiful house with many extras that he thought would make our daily lives easier. We depended on him for just about everything. He listened, suggested and he made it happen. His design was everything we wanted and more."
