Josh Universe

Born and raised in the humble city of Mobile, Alabama, Joshua Evans would soon find out that he was a bit different from his peers. From an early age, Joshua noticed he felt emotions differently than most people. They overwhelmed his heart and mind as quickly as he became aware of them. Joshua took to drawing to understand and release these emotions. As he grew older, art had become his safe haven from his own mind. “I never understood why God wired my brain this way,” says Joshua, “I just feel so much, everything feels so intense compared to the average person.” Later in college, Joshua decided to pursue art as a career. He began teaching himself to paint in 2016, and one day realized why he loved creating art; He was creating his own universes to escape. Thus, Josh Universe was born. Coming from the South, it can be very difficult to gain exposure in the artistic field. However, Josh’s determined personality had cultivated a “do it yourself” mentality. Consequently, Universe Art Gallery was created to help himself, and other like him, break into the artworld.
