I have used Marquis Masonry for 4 large projects, One was a flagstone pool and spa edge and deck with a waterfall (he also installed a new skimmer and pool return, 2nd was a duel tier set of stone steps with columns, 3rd was a flagstone walkway from the steps to the boat dock walkway, 4th was a approx 20" outdoor kitchen all hand cut and fitted field and flag stone, we also had them place 3, 2500lb boulders behind our spa, The stone was all hand cut every piece no box store cultured stone and looks incredible and any concerns were always taken care of in a timely manner, we are very pleased with the workmanship and attention to detail provided us from Jim Marquise Masonry and have recommended him to neighbors as well, I will sum this up by stating Jim requires a sizable deposit to secure stone and materials before even scheduling a job but rest assured he's honest and he actually does the work with helpers as opposed to hiring a bunch of subs that are clueless, if you have a stone or rock project and want top notch stunning results you will be very pleased with Jim Marquis Masonry a true Artisan!

I had Jim Marquis install stone around my fireplace. His initial estimate was $2400, but then when I didn't have him do a bunch of other work, he jacked the price up to $3200. After waiting over 2 months to have the job done, he offered me a $200 discount for waiting so long, only to then "add" the price of the mantle (which was already supposed to be included in the original quote) - and guess what? The mantle price increase was exactly $200. How convenient! In addition, Jim shows a bit of an attitude if you ask any questions regarding the job. I gave Jim a photograph of exactly what we were looking for - and we ordered the exact stone in the photograph - but the end result was nowhere near the quality or look of the photograph. The stones surrounding the fireplace opening were a special accent stone. Jim did not order the correct stones necessary to replicate the surround as shown in the photograph and jury rigged the ones he got to fit - and he installed them without mortar (also as shown in the photo). The end result is nowhere near what we asked for. I texted Jim after the job was done to ask what I needed to do to have the surround mortared, but he has not answered my text. I suspect that he just doesn't want to mess with it because it wasn't a million dollar job and because we had the audacity to ask him questions while he was working. In any case, I would not recommend using Jim Marquis Masonry.
