Fonteneau & Co. has done extensive projects for me in three different properties - a large single family home, and several apartments. The work included custom kitchen cabinets in a variety of styles and materials, custom built-ins, special doors, and custom furniture. The work is extraordinary, the quality is impeccable, and the installation is perfection. These very high-end projects were preceded by repeated measurement, excellent and thoughtful design, and flawless execution. The work has inspired several friends to engage Fonteneau & Co. who have been equally satisfied. In addition, the company head is delightful to work with, always polite, clear about understanding client preferences and setting precise expectations. Mickael was extremely professional, thorough and the most knowledgeable in everything my kitchen project entailed, even if it was technically out of his scope. He also did a herringbone floor project for me that was beautiful and he’s one of the few people in the DC area who could do it in the traditional way.

Fonteneau & Co. did a complete renovation of our 2 BR condominium. We had been struggling with this renovation for sometime, but as soon as Mickael took over, things went smoothly. He was incredibly knowledgeable in all aspects of our renovation...everything from appliances to flooring to plumbing to electrical to carpentry/woodworking. He accompanied us and advised us when we were selecting appliances, tile, etc. He worked closely with us at every step. He hand-crafted our kitchen and hallway cabinets, bathroom vanities, and mirror frames and also hand-crafted our entertainment center. We get lots of compliments on this from friends and neighbors. Our building engineer who has been inside many units in our building told us we have the best unit in the entire condo. Not only is Mickael a master of his craft, he is honest, hardworking, reliable, trustworthy, pleasant, and easy to get along with. We cannot recommend him highly enough.

Mickael Fonteneau was a designer and craftsman from beginning to end. My field is museum design and his cabinetry, design ability and service are exceptional. His commitment to quality can be seen in every detail of our kitchen and he knows the difference small details make when creating a beautiful kitchen. His work is a personal expression of his craftsmanship and he creates every inch of any project he undertakes--no sales people and so better communication, service and cost. Our kitchen came out beautifully and we get lots of compliments. If you are considering a new kitchen it is worth talking with Mickael. He has great ideas and loves to make beautiful things.
