What Wood You Like

I hired him to do cabinets for my kitchen renovation. He did a wonderful job! So much so that when my house was damaged in a fire, I hired him to fix some of the damage to my kitchen (2019). My insurance paid me directly to pay him. I gave him $750 up front because he had done such a wonderful job for us previously. He ghosted us. I called, texted, emailed, and even showed up to his office. Every time there was an excuse he was getting to it, health issues, staffing issues, etc. This went on for a year before we gave up and hired someone else out of our pocket. I made the assumption that he went out of business because of his health issues, so I made the decision to drop it. But, I recently ran across his Instagram page showing work done within the last year. I wanted to be sure that everyone knows that while his work is beautiful, please do not trust him with your money until after the work is done.

We finished a Barndominium this winter and Vick did all of the cabinets in the bathrooms, laundry room, butler's pantry and kitchen. This was a custom job with lots of space. Vick was able to put together a design that we loved and then did the install. Vick communicated well with us and other contractors to work out schedules and to be sure that the work was completed timely and correctly the first time. We will be building a house next year and will definitely use Vick again!

Vick is a consummate professional craftsman. He is meticulously accurate and a wonderful collaborator. We first used him several years ago to create Japanese style shoji screens to conceal a large area under our deck. It is standing the test of time. More recently he built out our custom mudroom. It’s both functional and appealing.

Vick with What Wood You Like was professional, listened to our needs and desires, and worked with us to build a quality piece of cabinetry to meet all of this. He worked well with our other contractors to produce a beautifully finished primary bath. The end result was amazing.

We have used Vick for multiple projects, from building a custom outdoor porch swing to installing new kitchen cabinetry. He performs high quality work at a reasonable price and is very friendly and professional. He is very responsive, listened to our requests and offered multiple options. We will continue to use him for future projects and highly recommend him to all of our family and friends.

Vick is very professional and friendly. He’s done a few projects for us from building the Big Green Egg holder and cabinets to boards on our bed to cabinets in my uncle’s kitchen. His attention to detail is incredible. I love how everything works and how the cabinets slide so smoothly! He definitely knows what he is doing and I highly recommend him for any woodwork.

WWYL refinished two important pieces of furniture for me. The first was my grandmother’s foyer table, which was originally stained, but had lots of wear and tear; WWYL refinished it in a matte black paint and gave it new life. The second item WWYL refinished was an entire dining room table, that was pine and had a dated country look. The dining table and chairs were refinished in a smokey grey color that matched my kitchen cabinets, and gave the area a finished decorator look. I was very pleased with the work WWYL did for me. Great communication and understood what I was looking for.

Great Customer Service and great attitude throughout the project. We needed specific size guitar Isolation cabinets to reduce stage noise. It was done better then expected.

It is very difficult now to find any contractor to call back let alone do a great job. Vick installed kitchen and bathroom cabinets at my home and it exceeded my expectations. The craftsmanship was amazing and he was incredibly thorough. He met with me several times to review the drawings (3D rendering) to ensure it was exactly what I wanted. When it came to the installation, he and his teams showed up on time and completed everything on time as well. The cabinets were installed with the utmost professionalism and care. I have dealt with many contractors and none have been anywhere close to being as good as Vick.

We have nice wooden Rockers. After the wicker darkened and began fraying, we ask that the seats and back wicker be replaced with wood. They were replaced with professionally made slats and then the whole chair was painted. Not only are they comfortable but are more beautiful than when they were new. Very Professional work, from the estimate to the finished work. Quality and excellent work for the price. I would highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again.

Vick and his crew made our custom office desks for us in about a week. They look fantastic and as with all of his furniture it is made with quality and pride.

Vick made adding a set of cabinets and sink to our in-law suite an easy project. Easy to slide drawers, custom designed spacing to make the most out of the small space allowed. We've been very happy with the project and the price. Much better than ready made cabinets we could have purchased at the big stores, but didn't utilize the space well for storage and were not nearly as well made as what Vick did for us.

Vick, with What Wood You Like, built our basement cabinets and display shelving. He was courteous and extremely professional. He built beautiful cabinets that exceeded our expectations. We have commissioned Vick for a couple of special "wood" projects... one involved a beautiful black walnut cabinet/table top for a customer, and the other was a boat/cocktail table for our home. The table top turned out to be a stunning piece, and as for the boat/cocktail table, we couldn't be happier! Vick takes the time to understand exactly what you want. After all, if you want a custom piece, it usually involves uniqueness. He asks great questions, and is quite honest in telling you what will and what won't work. Vick knows what he's doing, and it shows. He's a true craftsman.
