About Us

Wood Studio is a small one man shop that caters to finer, more detailed projects, focusing on exciting design and quality craftsmanship. Matthew Leite, Woodworker, Owner/Operator is a talented craftsmen with much experience in constructing both high scale cabinetry, and custom made wood furniture. Live edge beds, exotic veneered bars, staged preassembled kitchens /built-ins and Maloof inspired tables are amongst the norm in the studio. Matthew personally undertakes each custom project from conceptualization, budgeting, building, finishing and installing. Each cabinet carcass is completely built and assembled in the Mississauga shop (which every client is encouraged to visit), materials are sourced locally and every custom piece of furniture gets serial numbered and autographed making Wood Studio products completely and proudly made in Canada. WSML also prides themselves on the use of responsible, environmentally-friendly, low VOC finishes and materials so that future generations of wood lovers will be able to express their artisan. Matt Leite is the consummate professional! He patiently listened to my wishes (more than once) with regards to what I wanted (in my kitchen remodel) and came up with an outstanding design. It was executed relatively on time (there were a few minor snags along the way, but that is to be expected in any project). Most importantly: 1) the quality of his work is superb, 2) he is honest, 3) he likes his work and it shows in that the smallest details are taken care of 4) he brings a team of excellent professionals from the other trades with him (plumbing, electricity, tiling, stone for counters) 5) he is reliable and shows up when he says he will.

We wanted add wine cellar in our dining area but wanted it to be unique and statement piece. Matthew created a beautiful custom wine cellar for us in Canadian black walnut. It is absolutely stunning. His work ethic, skill and craftsmanship did not go unnoticed. We are absolutely thrilled with what he created and it is an absolute show stopper. We highly recommend Matthew. He is extremely passionate about what he does and it speaks through his work.

Our family room required a complete makeover to efficiently use the space as well as bring it up to date. Matt was instrumental in helping us improve and implement our vision. He made excellent suggestions and then built and installed storage units to house the media and store other paraphernalia, all of which exceeded expectation. The workmanship is excellent and the installation was quick and seamless. We wish Matt well in all future endeavours and do not hesitate recommending his company.

Matt Leite came as a referral from a friend, who was very happy with the job he did on her built-ins. He turned two ugly and space-inefficient sliding door closets into beautiful built-ins with proper doors. Before, I could barely fit my things in the closets, and now there's extra space! He also did the bottom cabinets of our kitchen. He made the process very easy, sourcing the countertop and a plumber to hook up the sink, ordering all the parts (the door handles, sink), and doing the demolition and installation. It was worth every penny, having someone reliable take care of the details. The installation went smoothly, and we are very happy with the results! He was also great about cleaning up after himself, which was important considering we were living in the space while the work was being done. I highly recommend Matt's services.

Matt designed a built in for a tv /desk/storage and a banquet for us in our new condo. We needed tonnes of storage that looked seamless and was very functional. We got more then what we ever dreamed and it is outstanding! The craftsmanship was superior! People in the industry even noticed the hand dovetails on the drawers which you never see any more. His passion comes through in every conversation and his love for his craft is obvious. While at our place he was like part of the family. We are so proud of our den, it looks like it was built with our place. We know we will have years of enjoyment and it will ultimately add value to our condo at resale time! I wish words could express the gratitude we have for what he has added to our condo. He has enriched our lives in ways beyond the craftsmanship of his built in!

I found the Wood Studio of Matthew Leite on Houzz and decided to take a chance on him to produce and install custom office furniture for a client. Matthew was an absolute delight to work with - he is so passionate about what he does. After reviewing all the details with Matthew, he had several suggestions on how to improve the design. As promised, Matthew was able to deliver and install to meet a very short timeline. A few adjustments were required on site which Matthew improvised without hesitation. I would highly recommend the Wood Studio of Matthew Leite for any custom woodwork and will continue to call on him to impress my clients.

Matt just finished a beautiful vanity and set of cupboards for us in our bathroom. It has given us 5x more space and the workmanship is beautiful. I really liked how he offered design advice that took our ideas and made them even better. He didn't settle for good enough- and you can see it in the final, beautiful product.

I am so so HAPPY with the built-ins Matthew did in our living room. He was professional, timely, and his work is fantastic. I, personally, had a few disappointing run-ins with others in the industry and when we called Matt my husband and I were quite frustrated. He was the opposite of what we had experienced - Matt is talented, communicative and HONEST. I asked Wood Studio of Matthew Leite to redo a very small kitchen in need of a lot of space. Having little to no knowledge of what to do to renovate a small space, Matt really listened to what I wanted/needed. Gave some excellent suggestions. Had samples, books and was willing to search out what I needed. He kept in touch with updates on construction and delivery. Installation was perfect! Overall, the experience was fantastic. Not only was Matthew Leite professional, courteous, willing to please and loves what he does, he's a really guy to work with, too!!

My husband and I completely renovated our small 2 storey semi in an effort to update, and to create more storage space and yet retain as much living space as possible. We hired Matt to create built in cabinets, and furniture designed specifically to fit our space. After our initial meeting Matt was quick to provide us with detailed drawings and a detailed budget. We had our own ideas and Matt made concrete suggestions to develop and enhance them. Matt created built in closets in both our master bedroom and our 2nd bedroom, a built in headboard and bed in the master bedroom, built in storage cabinets in the living room including audio shelves, a desk, and areas for files and office storage. In the kitchen Matt built a beautiful wall hung walnut bench and matching table. And when our inspector wouldn't let us get away without a proper railing on the stairway to the 2nd floor, Matt came up with a wonderful design. We can't recommend him enough. Matt's work ethic is excellent, he's a very pleasant guy to be around, and his work is exemplary.
