We had the builder add a sunroom, 16’x16’ and an attached deck. The business owner, Justin Heald, helped us come to the final design that we wanted. We can’t say enough good things about the work execution, quality, professionalism, and friendliness of the direct employees, and even the subcontractors. Our room and deck are exactly what we wanted, and are presently enjoying.

I hired J.R. Heald Builders, LLC to replace our large, existing 3/4 wrap-around decking with composite/Trex products. At my request, we also installed a set of stairs. Justin was expert in executing this in a way took the best advantage of the existing framing, was mindful of existing landscaping, and was within my specific parameters. I opted to keep our existing balusters/spindles but replace the railing with composite to match the decking. I am overjoyed with the results. The work was completed within our proposed time-frame and on budget. I chose J.R. Heald because I was impressed immediately by Justin's professionalism, thoroughness, attention to detail and his honesty. The proposal was detailed and included possible enhancements. Although the other company's proposal was comparable in price, it was Justin's respectful and personal approach that really was the deciding factor. Both he and his crew were here full work days until completion. Old materials were hauled away by dumpter with absolutely no mess at all (he even hauled away an old planter of mine that I couldn't manage myself!) Justin renovated and added on to our existing deck using trex decking. He helped us with design ideas and color choices. He was very professional and his crew was equally friendly and professional. I used J.R. Heald Custom Carpentry to install a large (38X12), elevated deck using Trex products. I was extremely pleased with the finished product and enjoyed working with Justin. The deck was completed on time and on budget. Justin's professionalism started with his proposal. Justin sent me a nine-page proposal that included a detailed scope of work and an approximate completion timeframe. When contrasted with the other company's one-page proposal with few details beyond the price, I easily chose Justin. Justin's price was comparable to the other company, even with the extra cost of installing the Trex on a diagonal and some other niceties the other bid didn't include. Justin used a helical pile product instead of concrete footings. The helical pile was quickly installed, gave a measurable load bearing capacity, and created minimal mess. Justin suggested that I go with the black balusters which I never would have considered on my own. What a great suggestion! They blend right in and don't detract from the view. Justin was the type of contractor I felt comfortable leaving unsupervised at my home; his crew was equally respectable. Justin showed up every day and worked the full day; he didn't hop between jobs like some contractors do. His attention to detail was spectacular. He even ran a magnet over my yard, so my daughter wouldn't step on a nail. I would highly recommend J.R. Heald Custom Carpentry.
