Long review but worth the read... Hired via Thumbtack app due to great reviews to removed engineered hardwood floor and replace with LVP. Process began with video walk through of original flooring, in which I showed that it was glued down to concrete slab foundation. Next we negotiated price and scheduled the work, which was estimated to take 1-2 days removal and 1 day install. The workers who came were very professional and hard workers, but they showed up without proper equipment to remove glued down flooring. This resulted in half a day worth of work with hammers and chisels while another worker drove to Charlotte to rent a large floor scraper. Work sped up greatly once that unit arrived. By the end of the first day the majority of flooring was up but a lot of glue residue and splintered wood was still stuck. I asked about glue removal and was told they would scrape more the next day and that it wouldn't be enough level variation to feel underneath the LVP. Second day's work included subfloor prep with some more power tool scraping, along with hand scraping glue and wood remnants. There was also some concrete grinding at the cost of an additional $500 to "cover cost of sending a crew out for the day", even though they would have had to worn a second day removing glue anyway. Installation was after the weekend and generally went smooth. My wife, however, did give clear direction to installers to not have concentrated areas with the same plank pattern, but when everything was said and done we found up to 5 duplicate planks touching each other throughout the floor. We decided to have a moisture barrier underlayment put on the concrete subfloor and after the floor was laid there is a very noticeable crinkling noise across 50% of the floor.
