Champion Floor Company

I needed a replacement shower because I knew the old tile one was leaking. At least Bathfitter didn't take the job and then find the problem. However, when they decided the floor was in bad condition and that's outside their specialty, they recommended Champion Flooring. The guy they sent later turned out to be a salesman. He made an appraisal of the project and sent me a contract. It seems likely on retrospect that Champion is not capable of doing the job. The so-called work went like this: Day 1 Jeff demanded (after spending a lot of time talking to Fr. Diel on the phone, which I heard in the distance but he did not come to me) referral to a plumber because he couldn't get the turn-off valve for the commode and sink to operate properly. I considered that I needed the job done quickly so I had Roto-Rooter do it for $737.08, although I could have done it with a pair of plyers--Jeff said Mr. Diel (who I then thought was a technical supervisor) had said on the phone I shouldn't be allowed to do anything to the valves. Day 2 Jeff discovered Black Mold. If they couldn't handl mold, that should have been identified by Mr. Diel. Nobody since the Black Mold diagnosis by Jeff has worn a mask; and the Champion crew should have been ready to do remediation anyway; they left a mess instead. I will not accept Jeff back in this house nor anyone from Champion except to pick up the abandoned tiles. I should not pay for the hours Jeff spent on the phone with Chris telling him why he couldn't do the job. He also left up a plastic barrier, held up only by masking tape; It could not have lasted long, their recommended remediator, Wellington, said it would take weeks before they could come, so I had to take it down and put my door back in place myself. When the real work was done, I saw no barrier put up and no dust spread. In summary, Champion got out of stripping most of the floor and never did the plywood. All they did was remove the commode (put it in the shower) and the vanity (put it in the small bedroom I use as a library with some blackened wood--infected by their standards). Last time I talked to Mr. Diel I asked for a full refund of my deposit and that some one other than Jeff pick up the tiles they abandoned. He said he'd have to talk to the owner. I have not heard back from them. Champion never could do the job and shouldn't have offered a contract. They only did damage.
