The Client is complaining about some white lines on floors after its was done/plus dust in front of the house when our guys were working at the house and the worse a ROTTEN WINDOW?
I will post a picture here. So everyone can see it. (or just look at our pictures) one of us opened the window and it fall a Part! Maybe you should say you never give any down payment before start the job or half way. Waited days after it was done to pay it. HMM let me Guess.. they were trying to find any problem on the floors and didn’t find any thing to complain and had to Pay the Job!. we know clients very well my friend. And yes we got back to you by E-mail. We said we can stop by on Monday. You waited the whole week and until Monday around noon to get back to us. To say some one is there waiting for u. don’t you had time or days before to get back to us saying it OK to stop by? Yes, I also told the client all of us were out of state work in on big job. That why was not answering the phone. We did 42 apartments. We finished all the jobs here in CT and was there for days. As far I know we never left any job that wasn’t done behind before going there.
Dust was left in the place? No. all the dust was in heavy duty bags and was take way from client house. What was left in the house was the carpet that was take off from Library. Left inside of the garage. We were not getting paid to take it way.
Floors was done on Winter time. (Everyone please keep in mind floors can be done any time in the Year, it does not matter if it’s winter or summer). As long the house have Heat, AC and Humidity Fire.
White lines: Before we get there..
We all know if the Subfloors/Floors was installed very well It should not move down/up when you walk on, squeaks or gaps. Most of the time we look for bad subfloors before install the new floors. We show it to client, if they don’t agree to pay to fix. What can we do? Fix for free?
Lest talk about white line. Its very simple.
First, Most of the jobs around are done 3-4 coats of Polyurethane. The polyurethane dry like a glass over the wood. Some place the Polyurethane get in the gaps. Most of the place floors still tight…
Now Pay Attention… if the Humidity is High in your house, what will happen to your Floors gaps? Gaps will try to close/cupping board. and polyurethane/Wood filler will pop out. Its happen more on floors that was done less than 3-5 months. Old floors we have not see that much. But it does too.
Now, we all know we had some really cold days on this winter. What happen when the heat run more/or keep the heat too Hight?
The air will dry more. And your floors? Will dry more. You will get more Gaps. Now remember where the floors never had a Gaps before? The Polyurethane will just Crack between board, guess what? WHITE LINE will show around. Yes, there is a chance that it start to peeling, you clean the floors with water.. it get under the finish and get lose. Same thing when floors move down/up. Polyurethane crack between board. Small white line. Humidity Fire will help a lot but they can go up to 3-5 Thousand easy. Labor/ Materials Etc.
