Our Rhama bed is absolutely beautiful and we couldn't be more pleased! Jake put additional support in the frame at the request of my husband and added walnut panels to the cherry frame at my request. The result is both elegant and solid, a wonderful combination.

Jake built 4 of the most beautiful tables for us. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the results. One of the tables he built for us was needed to match the already existing bedroom set we had. He did a perfect job. His craftsmanship is perfect. We had talked with him about some special requests we would like to have and he came thru on every one. Very professional attitude, so happy we had the chance to meet him and his wife.

We commissioned J. Blok Studios to make a floor lamp for our home after seeing their work at the Ann Arbor Art Fair. The lamp was delivered to our home this week and we could not be happier. The lamp was created from a single piece of cherry and the artistry is beautiful. Very professional and personable studio to work with.....I highly recommend them.

We asked Jake to build a large, rustic, farmhouse style dining room table with extensions. Not only did it turn out better than we envisioned; he was able to build the table with short lead-time; just in time for Thanksgiving. Jake was great to work with. He recommended knotty alder and provided multiple samples of stains and distressing techniques to create the rustic look we wanted. Jake created a beautiful, solid wood table with self-storing leaves that exceeded our expectations. It’s so much better than the mass-produced tables we were considering. It will be a favorite place for family and friends to gather for years to come.

I first saw Jake Blok’s work at the 2016 Ann Arbor Art Fair, and knew right away he was the wood artisan I had been looking for for an entrance hall table. In the end, I ordered a large and a small entrance table, and Jake designed them for me, from size and materials specifications I wanted. I thought he listened well to my likes and needs and then made design suggestions in drawings that helped gel my thoughts. He also was good about suggesting things I may not have thought of and we incorporated those (like having a contrasting wood piece at one point). He was very patient and indeed interested in going through a number of drawings and changes until we came up with something I loved. Then he kept me informed during the time he was making them, sending pictures or samples of what the tables or their finish would look like. So, I was able to comment when I wanted something darker, and he did that. He was also timely in his work and delivery. Not only did I like the design and manufacture process, but I thought the quality of his workmanship was outstanding. It’s hard for me to detail what is right about something, but I can always see the flaws, and there are no flaws in his work. Jake is both a craftsman and an artist. I would definitely engage him again for a custom-designed wood working piece!
