I received a beautiful mailbox in excellent condition, just as I expected. However, it did not fit on my already-cement-installed post, despite following all the instructions recommended by Modbox including the purchase of the universal mounting bracket. I even contacted a handyman to troubleshoot the problem who told me that my post was "custom and thin and wouldn't work with this particular piece". I was desperate to make this mailbox work for my home because it was PERFECT for the house, architecture and time period. I was super disappointed it wouldn't work for me. I contacted the seller who seemed interested in working out a solution. He offered to send me a post but that would have cost me handyman installation (and I already have a "custom post"). I offered to send the mailbox back (after showing proof of the pristine condition of the mailbox) with extensive packing and insurance. He pointed out that Houzz has a 21-day return policy (who could have accomplished buying the Universal Mounting Bracket and troubleshooting the post issues in that time?) and I was well beyond that time. He also reminded me that his business was started based on a Kickstarter campaign in 2014 to support building mid-century modern mailboxes which were very specific to the needs he identified when he built his house at that time. I very much appreciate Greg's time interacting with me to try to come to a mutually satisfactory outcome but I would point out that despite his emails, he ultimately fell back on the 21-day Houzz return policy, which is his right. So, buyer be warned. If you want to buy this mailbox, you better hustle to make sure it fits. If it doesn't you better order the Universal Mounting Bracket ASAP (or even before)! Then you better have your handyman on call STAT to troubleshoot problems because Greg is SERIOUS about returns within that time frame. Note: this is the Houzz policy and that IS Greg's right.
