Jay did a major remodel of our master bath. After giving us multiple options and drawings, we decided on a final design. Jay began work but after a few weeks I changed my mind! The project now became a virtual gut of the entire bathroom. In spite of the curve ball, Jay welcomed the changes, made further design suggestions, and adapted the original plan to the redesign. In the end, the bathroom could not have come out better. The master bath is so much more efficient and absolutely beautiful. Great workmanship, great crew, great design suggestions, and plenty of attention to the finishing details. We are so glad we committed to this huge remodel - and thanks to Funktion Design, we would do it again in a heartbeat! Thanks Jay.

Jay is a consummate professional as a general contractor. I have had some difficult contractors before, so it was refreshing to work with a contractor like Jay who respected my house, who was very clean, organized, timely, and honest. I got exactly what I paid for. He listened to what we wanted and we got that. He was always willing to give suggestions but to never push you one way or another. I have used Jay for 2 major project (kitchen and master bath) and both are spectacular. I would suggest Jay and Function Design to anyone.

We loved working with Jay and his team. As the plans evolved- and they did evolve Jay's creativity and humor became more and more apparent. All building plans must be flexible because there are always pipes and retaining walls in annoying places. Jay's state of the art computer programs and his fabulous sense of style were of utmost importance to our project. He allowed us to use our creativity as well, so we really felt like we were a part of the process. We were impressed with the level of profession Ian of jay and his workers.

Funktion completed a renovation of a cottage on Lake Erie this spring. He contributed to the design and selection of all materials. He provided quality workmanship and on time performance for a tight opening deadline. He helped keep to the budget and was supportive of on site owner changes. He has an excellent crew of talented professionals. They are pleasant and are proud of the great work they do. The work site was always clean during construction. Has a wonderful list of material suppliers who can get the material to the site on time. I would recommend Funktion, Jay Funkhouser highly.

Our kitchen needed a facelift and we were referred to FUNkTION through a mutal acquaintance. Our initial contact resulted in a consultation appointment within 48 hours. We gave Jay our budget and he prepared a proposal which included our wants of granite countertops, tile back splash, new appliances, lighting and paint. Jay is an exceptionally postitve individual, always congenial. He is goal driven, worked perfectly with us the clients, his work crew, and diligently strived for total satisfaction. Our kitchen was transformed into an area that is both beautiful and functional. We truly could not be more pleased with the end result. We are planning a face lift to our master bath and we would not consider anyone other than FUNkTION to complete the job.

We used Jay Funkhauser to completely remodel two bathroooms and a kitchen and were so satisfied with his work that we hired him to install a finished attic and full bath the following year (2013). The things we like about him are (1) he comes up with creative, yet practical solutions to difficult design challenges (2) he is a good listener (3) he likes to do things the right way rather than cut corners (3) he communicates daily during the course of demolition and construction (4) for the most part, he hires very well qualified tradesman who are polite and respectful and (5) his pricing is reasonable, but not the lowest (see #3). For both the kitchen and the attic, he identified weaknesses in structural support members and took the time to reinforce floor joists and vertical support members. At the beginning of the first job, he asked us about the potential scope of all of the home renovation projects we had in mind. After each demolition phase, he installed extra piping and wiring in anticipation of future projects, which saved us a lot of money in the long run. His finished rooms are both beautiful and functional. His experience with granite helped us choose a tasteful blend of different stones which complement the surroundings. He was very helpful with picking out lighting fixtures and decorative hardware, but he always let us have the final decision. He has a good eye for color and style; he wasn't satisfied with the paint color we originally chose for a bathroom and, on his own, returned to the paint store twice to modify the color before he got what he wanted. As soon as we saw the final color, we know it was perfect. This is one of many such stories that illustrate his attention to detail and the pride he takes in a job well done.
