ASPEN HOME IMPROVEMENTS

AWFUL! BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT USE! It took two weeks before Breez would call me back . The installers didn't clean the windows and left a black scuff mark on the outside of one of the widows, that I guess I have to figure out a way to fix. Then I get a text saying the shutters that we were told were included in financing were not, and would I like to pay 3200 on a credit card. RIDICULOUS!

Had an Aspen sales guy come to give a quote on a replacement front door and window. Little about the products they install. The sales person had very little knowledge about construction overall and could not give straight answers. In addition to Aspen, I had four contractors come in and give me quotes. Aspen was more than double the next highest quote. The endless discount offerings just keep coming but they are still the most expensive. Unfortunately I am not home and had to get one contractor to "do it all". I do not have the time to run around finding another contractor to do trim, paint etc. so I accepted the Aspen quote because they claimed they will do it all. The contract you are handed however is very basic leaving them room to deny any work the don't want to do. All other contractors will provide detailed contract with scope of work. So here is what happened. First, they did not honor the timeline they set. When they rescheduled, two guys showed up on day 1. The way they operated indicated they do not work together often. Big problem! The workmanship is questionable at best. Messy, taking short cuts, don't care about your house. When they left, they left clothing and empty coffee cups on the stairs leading up-stairs, screws, wood chips and saw dust all over. Trim around the window was white, rosettes was natural wood. I looked at work done by a Home Depot contractor and believe me, I am jealous. My house is open to anyone wanting to see how Aspen works. I thought I paid more and will get great service and workmanship. Not so. When Aspen calls, hang up, run, hide. They SUCK and should be banned from doing any work on homes.

Windows throughout the house. Courteous workman. The job was done in one day with 13 windows and a patio door. They cleaned up after themselves. From the sales, office and work staff, all were a pleasure to work with. It was worth the money.

The gentlemen doing the installation of our bay window was excellent. Removed old one installed new one in 4 hours flat. Looks great, cleaned up and took all debris. Would highly recommend him. Window arrive within specified time, was reasonably priced and received good ratings.

My negative review is based on the following 3 problems. 1.Door Color – When we met with the salesman, he told us that the paint for the doors was from Sherwin Williams and we could match the paint on our shutters. We took the paint color and had the shutters painted to match our new door. When the door came, the two colors didn’t match. The installer told us this was because the material for the door was different from the wood for the shutters. However, we were given a small container from the paint for the door and we put some of it on a shutter. The door paint looked almost like a salmon color next to the red on the shutters. 2.Hardware for Doors – While the installer was here, we got a call from the office saying they were confirming that we were supplying our own hardware for the front and screen doors. We said “no” and then read them the relevant line from the contract where it said we were purchasing the hardware from them. She then said the door hadn’t come with the hardware. When I asked why they hadn’t checked this before arranging for the installation, she said they never opened the boxes with the doors because they didn’t want to damage them. This sounded kind of far-fetched to me. Anyway, the installer had to go to Home Depot to get the hardware. The screen door is hard to open. After trying several times, I realized that you have to push the handle in on the top before pulling on the handle to open it. I didn’t look forward to telling anyone wanting to come into our house that instead of just pulling on the handle, they had to push at the top of the handle first. 3.Nicks on Door Frame – There are numerous nicks (at least a dozen) on the inside door frame. When we pointed this out, we were told we had to sand these nicks ourselves before painting. We were prepared to paint the door frame but we hadn’t been told that we would have to hire someone to do all the sanding that would be necessary before painting. We shared these concerns with the office and the president came to our home on June 12. He acknowledged all our problems and said he would get back to us within a day regarding what would be done. When he left, we didn’t feel from his manner and his lack of sincerity that he would contact us. Unfortunately, we were right. No one from the company has followed up on these concerns since the president met with us on June 12. We feel we have allowed adequate time for the problems to be taken care of before writing this review.

The estimate for our roof was explained and all questions were answered thoroughly. The work crew did a great job in 1 day. The owner of the company came out to inspect and to inquire if we were happy with the job. I would definitely use them again!
