Hagood Homes made our dream home a reality. After we purchased our lot in Compass Pointe, we knew we had the arduous task of choosing a builder among the many fine home builders that were available at CP. After much research and many visits to various models, we confidently chose Hagood as the builder of our retirement home. The reasons were many, from standards like 10' ceilings, foam insulation, custom moulding throughout and home plans that included a finished 2nd floor with a roomy deck, to the outstanding team that we worked with throughout the project. Our journey started with Josh Adams who went out of his way to help us select the perfect home. Josh took great care to listen to what we wanted in our home and led us to the Harbour Towne III model at St James. We knew we had found the perfect plan for our home. Our next experience with Hagood was a 3-day selection process where we chose all of the finishes for our home. It was an exhausting task but Hagood made it a well-organized and pleasant experience. Once the building began, we can honestly say that it was smooth sailing to the end. Our project managers, Dustin and James, along with the construction manager, Will, helped make our home a reality. Throughout the process there was great communication and little anxiety. We have now lived in our beautiful home for 6 months and are thrilled with our entire experience working with Hagood and their amazing staff. Worst building experience ever! We have built four new homes over 40 years, This one was truly awful. Heartless refusal to reschedule a selection meeting caused by medical emergency led to a four-month delay in starting the project. We were lied to about the trees left on the property - Hagood claimed they took down as many as the POA permitted, leaving 19 - we found out that the POA asked for 5 to be protected. Cost us $2,000 to remove trees they could have done while clearing the lot. The house was filthy the day we moved in, we had to clean it ourselves to permit our furniture to be moved in. We pointed out that our kitchen counter was too small during the install. It was only replaced after we moved in. The installers filled our house with granite dust while cutting out the stovetop opening. Out stairs to the FROG were sealed three times, the finish is still not right but we gave up because we could not face a house full of sawdust and odor for the third time. They installed two shower/bath control valves on outside walls which means that when they have to be replaced the tile wall will have to be opened. The project manager said that it was permitted by code so he would not authorize a change during the construction process. The project manager seemed more adept at finding excuses than in solving problems.

I've been in my new custom home for a year now. The design and construction team made the process easy and comfortable. I'm about to do my 1 year warranty check in and I have nothing but some paint touchup. It's a very quality home and it shows.

Hagood’s design center professional, Selena Williams not only provided wonderful options but helped guide our selections and ensure our preferences were incorporated into our home. We committed to build our home in Leland NC with Hagood Homes in 2018 after researching other builders. We were pleasantly surprised by the incredible professionalism of this firm as we have not ever built a home before. From the get go with Nora Ruehle our realtor from Seacoast Realty , Josh Adams, Patrick Kennedy, Will Hargrove, Selena Williams, and others at Hagood, our experience was smooth and effortless. We were living in NJ at the time our home was being built and this team kept us informed from breaking ground, through selections, construction, and completion. Any delays or changes were handled quickly through emails by our project managers Scott Stamey and Brandon Kelly, who by the way are awesome! We could not be more pleased with how we were treated and how beautiful our home turned out! We as business owners, certainly understand the passion, patience and dedication it takes to run a business. Hagood Homes is all that! We definitely would have Hagood Homes build for us again as they certainly understand their clients needs. A truly disappointing experience. Great design but extremely poor workmanship and quality control. Most subcontractors quit during build and the hagood supervisor changed every couple of months. After spending significant dollars for our retirement home I now find myself as the person paying for and supervising it’s completion. Once the house is finished I suspect I’ll be in court, rather than enjoying retirement.

I used Hagood Homes to build my house last year. Not only did Jim Kenny do an excellent job building the house, Troy Kenny also did an excellent job with design and had some great ideas. The house came in on budget and on time and they made the whole building experience a pleasure. I would highly recommend Hagood Homes to anyone thinking about building.

After spending one year looking at new homes throughout the Wilmington, NC area, my wife and I found that every time we came across a home that we loved it was built by Hagood. Once we purchased a property we went to Hagood and introduced ourselves. The builder is Jim Kenny, his wife Troy, designs the homes. Right away we knew that they were the team for us. Troy's designs are open and cheerful and the space is well thought out. Jim and his team are practical builders that understand budgets. They can build you a mansion or a wonderful beach bungalow. Throughout the build process all the members of the Hagood team have been responsive to our needs and our worries. Todd Plocharczyk was our direct link to Hagood Homes and oversaw all the details. I wouldn't consider building a new home without him.
