Michael Ipsahn is thorough and did a great job of informing me of all the potential issues and “land mines” I could have experienced with my renovation project. He did his due diligence in making calls to the appropriate governmental agencies to find about the permitting process that shockingly none of his competitors did. I am grateful for his expertise and presure-less effort to secure my business while discussing alternative options with my complex project. I would highly recommend Michael as he is thorough, knowledgeable and very generous with his time and expertise, as well as his follow through.

Horizon did a great job managing a major tree damage repair to our home. The were responsive, timely and the work is excellent. We are extremely pleased with the end result and would recommend them to anyone in need of a highly skilled, competent contractor. Sub-contractors were professional, neat and highly skilled. Most importantly, every member of the crew was trustworthy, and we quickly became comfortable with them accessing the home without supervision from me. I enjoyed working with the entire team.

Mike and the team were great to work with and their quality of work was outstanding. We had them complete a downstairs bathroom and bedroom renovation, and they made it a very easy process throughout the project. Even when some unexpected issues came up as we opened walls, the team listened to our desires as we discussed options. Based on all of this, we will definitely use Horizon for future renovations, and I highly recommend them.

Job consisted of building a large wooden deck and pouring a large stamped concrete patio. Completed the large project on time and on budget. Communicated job progress and planned work in an efficient manner. Took care of all of the permits. This is the latest project in a series of major projects that Horizon Building Corporation has completed for my family home.

We hired Horizon to add a front porch to our home. Mike and his team were a pleasure to work with from the very beginning. We especially appreciate their attention to detail and obvious desire to (not just get the job done, but) do the job right. Having worked with other contractors in the past who failed on communication and job oversight, it was a dream to have a contractor who frequently communicated about plans, delays, design decisions, etc and who was on the job site on a regular basis. We are very pleased with the final product and would highly recommend Horizon to any of our friends.

Horizon Builders (Mike Ipsan Sr & Mike Ipsan Jr.) and their team have been doing jobs for me for more than 25 years. They have worked on approximately 20 to 30 projects for myself, my own home as well as several rental properties I manage. They have worked on my parents home and my siblings homes. As a full-time Realtor I have been able to rely on them to complete jobs at my Buyers and Sellers homes and know that my clients will be more than pleased with the final results. The range of work they have completed for me ranges from numerous complete custom homes built from the ground up to new roofs and bath renovations. The quality of their work makes them the best value when it comes to ensuring that your home renovation is done with complete professionalism. Great easy going guys with a terrific team of supporting staff.

Mike Ipsan and his team at Horizon's took our 1960's house and renovated it into our dream home. We touched every space in and outside of the house to transform it into a more functional, updated home. We changed the footprint by adding a bathroom, updating the kitchen, adding on a front porch, refinishing the basement, installing new HVAC and water tank, new plumbing throughout and new flooring. There was an onsite manager here everyday doing carpentry work and coordinating teams of electricians, painters, stone masons, plumbers, HVAC, drywall, landscaping, etc. etc. etc. (He worked with my architect, but I know he has relationships in that field as well.) He handled all of the county inspections and didn't leave the job until we were 100% satisfied. Mike was upfront about the costs and the project turned out to cost very nearly what he estimated from the beginning. Several in our neighborhood hired him after seeing the work he did on our house. I can't recommend Horizon's highly enough. Five stars with no hesitation.

Horizon designed and built a two-story addition to our existing house. This was our second experience with Horizon Building; they also did an extensive remodel for us when we first bought our house in 2010. This time around we wanted to build out a master bedroom suite, and also add a home office, a laundry room, and another bathroom, as well as converting some existing space into a guest suite. Horizon worked with us from the idea stage to completion, including helping consider options for design, arranging for an architect, getting permits, and doing all of the construction from excavation to finishing touches. They were sensitive to our needs to avoid disruption at certain times. They brought in very professional subcontractors to do parts of the work (like masonry, tile, roofing, painting). We were extremely pleased with the process and with the results and would recommend Horizon Building Corp to anyone!

Contracted for new home construction. Work was high quality, received regular feed back, delivery was on time, excellent management of subs. Includes client early in key decision points for the project. Overall very easy to work with. Doesn't bid low and play the change order game. Overall, highly recommend.

Horizon Builders is great! They have done two projects for me recently. First, they built a house from basement up out in the Northern Neck. Without a doubt Horizon Builders has the depth of workers and knowledge base to complete a new build from top to bottom. Their coordination with permitting and liaison with local government was navigated with ease by their seasoned and highly knowledgeable senior member. He understands the nuances of the customer and his amazing acumen leads him to make the right decisions at the right time. The material they use is superb! They are totally honest and upfront with costs and cost drivers! Additionally, they replaced my back deck and stairs due to rotting wood. This was done on my main home in Fairfax Va. Completed in optimum time. Their master carpenter is without peer! The back deck looks beautiful! Highly recommend! Would gladly hire again! SJS

Between 2002 and 2003, Michael Ipsan/Horizon took a small 1,800 square foot circa 1942 farmhouse and integrated an addition that more than tripled the size of the house and resulted in a beautiful contemporary farmhouse, with upgrades to plumbing, electrical, windows and siding in the original part of the house. The integration was seamless and the project came in on-time and on-budget, with wonderful workmanship. While we had retained an architect for the overall design, Michael made many useful suggestions on tweaks to the design that significantly improved the outcome. The kitchen and pantry were recognized by HGTV in their American Home 2005 show, and in 2008 the house was recognized with a spot on the Historic Garden Week in Virginia tour, both testaments to the quality of the construction. We've had other friends who've had nightmare construction projects with other builders; our experience was exactly the opposite. Warranty issues were minor, and Horizon has stood behind the construction even to this day. In the years since it was completed we've been happy to have Michael walk other prospective clients through the house to see what was done, which speaks to our respect for his work and honesty. We can highly recommend Horizon to anyone considering a custom home builder.
