Notasulga's Master Carpenter & Builder for 34 Years!

In 1988, after receiving a degree from Auburn University, I started my 1st business, Production Construction. We framed, formed, trimmed and sided numerous apartment complexes and large houses. We also built many additions and remodeled numerous homes. In 1999, I built a shop and home on my 12 acre plot and started Saugahatchee Woodworks. We built custom cabinets, staircases, and did other custom woodworking projects. In 2009, during the recession, I had to lay off most of my shop employees and expanded back into outside carpentry projects. I have been a working superintendent on more jobs than I could possibly list, from multi-million dollar projects to decks and docks to landscaping.

I found David Langston extremely easy to work with and that is important when undertaking a three month long custom kitchen and bay nook project. When it came to making changes in the scope of work, I never felt like they were annoyed or upset, which made the final result of our project much more personal. He also was very open with communication, showed up when he said they would and was honest about the time frames in which the work would be done. As a rule, the crews cleaned up well when they left for the day and they took a lot of precautions to contain dust and protect the existing floors. Was the experience perfect, not at all, but large remodels never are and that's why the little things like the listening and the communication that David fostered became so important and led to the success of the project.

This contractor did an awesome job constructing the design that I wanted.....which was an enclosed sunroom built from an outdoor game porch. I highly recommend his services. He was very easy to work with. He obtained all of the required licenses and permits and scheduled all of the required inspections. The only drawback was that the project took a little longer than expected.....but this was due to a lag/delay in inspector visits.

He shouldn't be allowed to call himself a builder. We had a garage and upper living quarters built. From the beginning, the four-man crew consisted of a lead carpenter, a second carpenter who couldn't make a straight cut, and two helpers-one who couldn't stand on a ladder and neither had a tool belt. The upper-level walls were a full inch out of plumb and two different thicknesses of subflooring were used. The outside stairs and decking were built so poorly we had to threaten a lawsuit to get any satisfaction. He was rarely onsite and at the end he verbally threatened us that if he came out it would probably end up in a physical altercation. We discovered through the lead carpenter that the second guy often worked drunk, thus no straight cuts. And he and his helper (who was related) were cheating us on hours. We were charged for all the mistakes they made and for correcting those mistakes, such as attaching the upper deck to the house. Heed our warning-run, don't walk away from him. We will attach photos of a few of the many examples.

I’m not surprised that you wrote us a bad review. 2021 was a terrible year for us, both personally and professionally.
As you know, two of the main people I was depending on to do your job were not able to work. I was not in good physical health and unable to help with the actual construction.. Good help was especially hard to find during that time ,due to Covid I assume, and I used who I could get to show up to finish your job.
I am sorry that our relationship went bad and hope y'all are enjoying your garage and living quarters.

David Langston & his crew did a great job replacing my old deteriating deck. The replacement was an upgrade. All posts were 6x6 instead of the original 4x4s. It is a very solid deck.. He kept in touch during the entire project and the quote was solid & fair without any cost overruns. All the workers were easy to talk to and didn't mind questions and addressed any of my concerns. I would hire Dave again. My wife & I are very happy with the finished project.

Great and Excellent work by David Langston. Very easy to work with David. Always ready to listen. Involves you in all decision concerning the project. Great quality work for a competitive price! I hired David to make an extension in the form of a study room. David’s approach to this work was so professional. He went about this in an orderly manner. At every step of the job, he explained it well to me and always asked for my input. He ended up building a beautiful structure than I was even expecting. David has patience, very cooperative and skillful. I like how he works and of course, I will not hesitate to recommend him to others.

We hired David Langston to build a mantle for our fireplace. I took several pictures from the internet to give him an idea of what I wanted. He used the pictures to get him started, but really looked at our fireplace and the room it was in to help him create an original mantle. The mantle was PERFECT! It really exceeded our expectations. It turned a very drab room into a showcase! David is very professional. His work is beautiful. I would highly recommend him for any woodworking needs.

Saugahatchee Woodworks built an entertainment center and an under-counter wine rack for us. David Langston is the most prompt cabinet maker that we have ever worked with. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and within two weeks it was installed and looked even better than expected. Definitely will not be disappointed.

David built some beautiful custom cabinets in my home including a window seat, shelves and cabinets that wrapped around 3 walls of the study.. Superb workmanship and very nice sense of style. I highly recommend this company!!
