I'm an Interior Designer and work in Vermont as well as the New York metropolitan area. I've worked with Martin Hawkes for the past 18 years and he's been nothing but an absolute professional fulfilling all our clients' audio visual & automated shades needs. Martin and his crew at Tree Ridge are consistently knowledgeable on state of the art technology at the top tier as well as smaller "cost effective" projects. Tree Ridge is a pleasure to work with - their quality is excellent and they deliver on time and in budget.

Martin Hawkes doesn't ask the right questions, and he has yet to install his electronic shades correctly (one still droops; my GC still paid him in full). Hawkes recommended translucent shades (which are actually transparent - an important distinction; in the attached photo you can clearly see detailed images through the shades) for a BEDROOM. We have electric mechanisms to raise the shades at the push of a button in order to reveal the view in the morning - why would we ever want to see the view THROUGH the shades as well???? Martin spoke directly with my architect at Black Mountain Architecture, never directly with me to ask my needs (the architect also dropped the ball, clearly). Simply starting with "is this a bedroom?" or "will people expect to be sleeping past 5:13am?" as an opening question *should* have steered him away from such an utterly useless product. And if he wasn't aware he was selling a product for a bedroom, then my architect is responsible for not conveying this information. As yet Martin's only response has been that he'll sell a replacement without his commission. This is not an acceptable resolution. I advise all steer clear of him, especially considering he has not come back to finish the initial installation of oxymoronic "translucent shades".
