Blue Horse Contemporary Design

We retained Blue Horse with a basic vision of a project that we wanted to do at the house. They really made the idea come alive handling each and every step of the process with numerous suggestions and ideas that took the impact and success of the project to the moon. Their ability to capture what you can describe and briefly sketch was amazing. I highly recommend them to enhance any area of your home where you have an idea of what you wanted to look like. Blue horse can make it come alive! We could not be happier with their involvement!

Kim has been assisting me with my home from day one when I purchased it. I love how my home has turned out. She has been such a pleasure to work with and I know I will be working with her in the future with new projects.

In beginning to tackle our bathroom renovations a couple of years ago, I was stuck on how to proceed with the powder room. I wanted to run my ideas past a design professional who was highly rated, was located nearby, and who offered consultations by the hour. I looked on houzz, and Kim checked all of those boxes. Her advice back then helped me take the design to a whole other level, so there was no question that I would consult with her about my master bathroom renovation this year when I was once again stuck. I was turning my brain inside out to figure out details like where the molding trim should begin and end, what tile to use on the shower floor, what kind of backsplash would look best, etc. Her expert tips and calm and confident professional input were reassuring and tremendously stress-reducing. Her casual comment about building on the dramatic and organic style of the powder room provided a strong push to get me out of the serene white hole I'd dug for myself. I immediately began looking for a bolder nature-themed wallpaper to replace the soft, pale pattern I'd chosen, and as soon as the right one materialized, the rest of the room fell together pretty quickly. I'm really impressed with how well Kim's advice has worked out, even though my house isn't even in her contemporary style specialization. I'm guessing it reflects her great command of fundamental design principles.

I love my new kitchen. The only thing I would change is that I wouldn't have picked black countertops (the black was my choice). They show every speck of dust! The kitchen is beautiful though, and I love the colors we picked out.

Kim and Christine are a pleasure to work with! We had never worked with an interior design service before, so we were a bit nervous at first. They put us at ease, worked with our budget and our preferences, and created a master bedroom, master bath, and tween girl's bedroom that we absolutely love! Both Kim and Christine are accomplished artists and it really shines through in their work. I was so focused on the shell of the room that I hadn't even given any thought to the mirror and lighting. Our family is so happy with our new interior. Kim worked with us to come up with a new layout and color scheme for various rooms in our house that needed revamping. We enjoy our new layout; everything is so much brighter and more welcoming. She even added her own personal touches by painting a gorgeous canvas for our living room. We've enjoyed having people over to debut our renovation.

I met Kim over a year ago when I was looking for a contractor to remodel my condo (fixer upper). She had put me in contact with someone awesome! After the condo finished being remodeled I then began to start working with Kim immediately and the past year she has helped me design my bedroom, kitchen, living room, and dining room! After my kids moved out I needed help making the transition from a 4200 SF multi-story family house to a 1400 SF one-level home. So much of my old furniture would not fit in the new place, and the task of figuring out what to keep and what to replace was daunting. Kim worked with me right from the start. She helped me choose interior and exterior paint colors for the new house, and we then we selected new furnishings for the deck, living room, and dining room that are perfect for fit and function (and that work well with the pieces I kept from the old house), along with lighting and fixtures that really look great in my new space. Kim was excellent to work with. She helped me picked window treatments for my home home and nursery. I appreciated that she gave me options that were most practical for the rooms I needed coverage, not just most expensive. I am so happy with the way everything turned out! My husband and I took on the challenge to design and build a house; I knew in my mind what style I wanted, but did not know what to call it. Kim, at Blue Horse Contemporary Design, thoroughly evaluated my likes and dislikes then helped me make interior trim choices. She absolutely nailed it! During the latter part of our build, the builder made some egregious errors with regard to the kitchen counter tops. She was happy to step in and offer interior design solutions that would satisfy both parties. She also assisted us with window treatments, paint selection, and we will work with her to accent the walls with artwork. We will hire her to complete the living space on the deck, and when we are ready to design the patio/outdoor entertaining area - she will be our go-to. I appreciate her patience, her candor, and that she LISTENS to the customer! I highly recommend Kim - she is a gem.
