Lifted Interiors

We engaged Michelle to help us update our main floor. Original 2003 hardwood floors needed refinishing and rather than approach like for like, we asked Michelle to help us “imagine the possible” in an updated colour scheme that would refresh, renew and add longevity to our project. We are thrilled with the result that takes us to a new colour palette anchored to our refinished floors, new wall colour, a few key pieces of furniture and carpets. Throughout the project Michelle listened attentively, proposed solutions within our level of comfort and price point and was thoughtful in her recommendations. Michelle also stepped in to manage our hardwood refinishing project when we left the city to avoid the mess. She provided photos and updates to keep us in the loop so we could see the progress being made. Working with Michelle was pleasure and we are confident that the outcome of our refresh was accomplished to a higher standard and with much less personal effort and frustration than had we tried to sort it all out ourselves. Michelle is a genuine pleasure to work with. I became aware of Michelle after she had worked with a few friends. I loved the way their interiors came together and asked them who they worked with. We downsized into a smaller home and decided to start from scratch with mostly new furniture, art and window coverings. This project was about 18 months in duration. Michelle prepared a floor plan to use as a starting point. While we modified it from time to time as we did use some of our previous furniture, we generally stayed the course. She made it easy to make decisions by providing a narrowed focus of choices, which I appreciated. I found that Michelle has an excellent eye for colour and design as well as detail. She is well connected in the design industry. She is honest. She is flexible and patient, and understands that needs and circumstances change. In short, she treats you like a valued customer/friend.

Michelle helped us decorate our brand new house. She took the time to listen to our vague ideas and tastes, and presented us with great design options that suit our lifestyle. We hired Michelle from Michelle Whaley Design to help us in finishing our home. From the initial meeting, through the planning and decision phase MIchelle was excellent. We needed guidance to complete the living room, dining room, and master bedroom. From our initial consultation as well as subsequent meetings to select art, fabrics, draperies and furniture Michelle was a real pleasure to work with and a true professional. Michelle was present for the installation of all the items and any minor hiccups were immediately dealt with to our complete satisfaction. She has the ability to understand what we wanted and to incorporate her own design experience and skill with that for an amazing finished product. We started working with her in 2017 after upgrading to a larger home. Over the past year Michelle has helped with all interior decorating for our living room, kitchen, basement, bonus room and master bedroom including space planning, furniture layout, sourcing and styling, custom drapery, lighting, accessories, and art sourcing. Michelle oversaw all aspects of each project including communication with suppliers, scheduling and coordinating deliveries and installation. Michelle brings professional and experienced vision to her work. She is knowledgeable, friendly and a pleasure to be around. She is excellent at working within a budget and timeline, giving an honest opinion and presenting thoughtful ideas. Michelle really goes above and beyond and we are so happy with the results.
