Do not use this company. We had a nightmare experience. General Contractors are needed to make sure you stay on budget and meet your timeline and obviously to provide a quality finished project. None of these things happened in our case. From another state, we hired 5A to complete a full house remodeling job that included water damage and mold abatement. Although we could tell not much work had been done, he kept demanding more and more money from us. At one point he had not applied $40,000 that we had paid him, but was asking for more. After being way over budget and time, as well as, terrible work quality, we had to fire them and hire another company to take over and manage the job. We are now paying to re-work much of what had been done because it was so poorly executed and would never have met code. He rarely shows up on the job and he kept our property filthy. He had no respect for anything on our property. Windows were broken that we must now repair. He cuts corners! He would not communicate what was going on at our home or if he did, it was a lie. For example, we met one Saturday to go over the job and he never told us we had failed our inspection just 1 day prior. He kept atrocious books. When we asked to see his accounting, it was just a file of receipts that could have been for any job. He is so unprofessional. The builder will not respond to our letters asking for our deposit and other monies that are ours, so he left us no other recourse but to pursue it legally. It has been such a disappointing experience.

Can’t say that I have been overly impressed with the remodel and work done to the house given the price we paid. The Viking appliances that were installed are over 10 years old and the oven circuit boards don’t work properly so the oven only works on broil and convection bake, and it also isn’t vented properly and just venting to who knows where, same with the vent over the range. As far as the master bedroom and bathroom are concerned the flooring is cheap laminate and not properly glued to the floor. The shower drain doesn’t drain properly because the drain has GROUT on it where it should be draining and now stopped up. The bathtub leaks because the overflow on the tub wasn’t done properly. Our gutters were supposed to be painted from damage prior to close but that hasn’t been done yet either. If you are thinking of using 5A I would reconsider. They ask a premium price and do cheap work and don’t check the quality of the work either. Wouldn’t recommend

Turned out to be the Easiest remodel project we have ever done - it was done long distance ( handled via phone and email) end result was exactly what we had hoped for and completed on time and at budget.

If you have remodeling to do, call Michael! Although we originally were only going to replace an awkward garden tub, with Michael's recommendations we achieved a beautiful new bathroom. French doors invite you in to a room newly rearranged with a huge barrier-free shower, an 80" double vanity with a custom-built linen tower atop a beautiful granite counter, and porcelain tile throughout in soothing gray tones. The work was accomplished on time, and the sub-contractors were professional and friendly. We will definitely use them again!

5A remodeling completely gutted and remodeled our guest bath. The workers were prompt , great people and did excellent work. Michael Strength is direct, does what he says he will do and responds quickly to phones and texts. The fact that I could reach him to ask questions or talk was remarkable. Will use them again!!!!

Michael Strength and 5A Remodeling went above and beyond for me. I could not have been happier with the service, advise, communication and finished product. Every step of the way I was kept in the loop and told what was next and how the project was coming along. Michael exceeded my expectations in all areas and I am happy to have gained a friend through the process. All of his subcontractors are good people and very trustworthy.

We engaged Michael Strength of 5A Remodeling to rebuild the shower in our Master Bath which was leaking. (Shower originally installed by Bay Flooring). From our first conversation, Michael was professional and responsive. He made an appointment to come to our home and assess the cost within 24 hours. He was prompt and very personable. The estimate was also less than the figure we expected. Throughout the construction, Michael and his assistant Gary were very easy to work with and always addressed our questions. The sub contractors they used not only did quality work but were also were neat and conscientious about not making a huge mess of our home. Both my husband and I work from home so this was especially important to us. Our shower was restored and we are very happy with the work done by Michael. We will definitely use him again in the future should the need arise.

I am so happy that I found Michael Strength as I planned to convert a kitchen desk area into a bar. Although I met with other contractors, cabinetmakers, & electricians, the project never took off. Finally, Michael made this happen. He and his subs were professional, always staying connected to the job, even though this was a relatively small job. They showed up when they promised, they left the workplace clean & neat, they respected my time & schedule, they were calm & creative when glitches appeared (they always do with remodels). Also, they went beyond the agreed upon tasks to insure that I was completely satisfied. If you can get on their schedule, grab a space. I will definitely use them again. 5A did a great job on our rather unusual and complex project; a screen room with waterproof floor over a new basement. We worked hand -in-hand from project design through completion. We found Michael, the owner, to be flexible and responsive to our needs. He has a capable cadre of subs to execute a project, and access to suppliers who provide exotic woods. We love our new space, and would highly recommend 5A!

After receiving about 4 bids on our project we settled on 5A. We purchased a home that was a rental, it needed lots of improvements plus we enclosed the carport. Michael and his wife offered the best value, she is a decorator and gave us lots of ideas and suggestions along the way, so they are a great team to have helping you throughout the project. We made changes all along the way and 5A was very helpful in helping us achieve an even better outcome than we had originally planned for, he was very mindful of budgets and keeping costs low. Michael was very hands on throughout the project and even spent some Saturdays changing things up so as to better meet our changing expectations. I highly recommend 5A! Best value around, quality of workmanship, attention to detail, patience and values making sure client is happy above all other concerns! 5A is local to the Fairhope area and both Michael and his wife are natives so they value their reputation... you cannot go wrong with 5A
