Custom Home Works

Our family room remodel is the third Custom Home Works (CHW) project completed to our extreme satisfaction at our house. The family room interior was a dated 44 year old style - fake wood beams, red brick around the fireplace and surrounding walls, popcorn ceiling, dark wood trim and bookcases, wood burning fireplace, no ceiling lighting, mini bar/sink recessed into the wall, and carpeted flooring, CHW tore everything out to the drywall and plywood, and started with a blank slate. Recessed lighting was installed, the redbrick was covered with tile and custom built bookcases (along with a custom built mantle) , the hearth was covered with granite, solid hardwood floor was installed, all new trim and crown molding was installed, and the popcorn ceiling was covered with drywall and and then smoothed to an even surface. The room is so much brighter, elegant, and cheerful than the old dark, stale and drab interior. I can't thank Bill and Dave enough for their time, patience, and expert knowledge in this remiodeling project.

I enclosed thedeck off of my family into a 3 season sunroom. This was a major construction project as the new sunroom roof had to tie into the adjacent roof to create a new sloping shed roof, with a large framing component, the existing decking had to be removed for additonal foundation supports to be installed because of the new roof, and the cedar siding on the house had to be removed and re-wrapped. At the end, the new sunroom blended perfectly with the house, and neighbors were totally amazed how perfectly the sunroom matched the house. Bill was always open to my input as I kept tweaking the design to incorporate more and more windows! At the end, the amount of windows that were installed has made the room feel like I am sitting outside. His suggestions on materials, styles and even switch and outlet locations were spot on. This is the second project Custom Home Works has done for me, and they are still producing a high quality and a reasonable priced job.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Bill and Dave on a renovation project at my home. This was our most ambitious project yet, as we wanted to maximize the existing space to create an entirely new master bathroom and walk-in closet. From start to finish, the entire process was incredibly professional and stress free. Bill was especially dedicated in finding creative solutions to ensure that we got exactly what we wanted for our home. His attention to detail was one of the many impressive things about his work ethic. Not only did he deliver a stunning master bathroom, but he also successfully relocated our laundry room from the basement up to the second floor. He even managed to install new windows in our family room that had previously been windowless! On top of that, Dave has gone above and beyond by building out a beautiful mud room and redesigning our fireplace with a brand new mantel. He also put up an entirely new front porch with a roof - it’s become such an inviting entrance into our home now! Above all else, I have been thoroughly impressed by Bill and Dave's commitment to punctuality and neatness when it comes to their work site. Despite working on large projects like this one, they always take care in making sure everything is clean before leaving for the day - something that I definitely appreciate! All in all, Bill and Dave have gone above and beyond with this renovation project - it's something I'm proud of every single day when I pass through my home's front door. Custom Home Works did a fabulous remodeling of my bathroom. It is beautiful and I would recommend them to anyone.

Bill Maibach knows what he’s doing. We have a small, older (1940) Clintonville house and he was up to every challenge it presented – from plumbing to electrical to window and tile. Bill and his colleague, Dave, took our tiny space and turned it into something clean, modern and functional. Not a day goes by without our family delighting in this new space. Bill is a fountain of knowledge. He made helpful suggestions and every time we talked, I learned something new. His estimate was thorough, so there were no surprise costs and we even came in slightly under budget. He takes great pride in his work and his attention to detail is unparalleled. Even when faced with a rotting subfloor, crumbling wiring and ancient plumbing, he repaired, replaced and upgraded. Remodeling is a messy job, but the rest of our house stayed clean even through demolition work. I’m so pleased with Custom Home Works that I’ve asked them to remodel our kitchen. Is there a better recommendation than that?

I used Custom Home Works to remodel my kitchen a few years ago. I was so pleased with the suggestions and, attention to detail, I called to see if they could install new glass shower door. I am pleased at the quality work done by Bill and Dave.

We had Bill create two new closets from dead space above and below stairways; install cabinets counter tops and a sink in the laundry room, and add hardwood treads to the stairs. He also installed cabinets and granite in the dining room to create a buffet area. The work included moving electrical outlets, installing a vent fan, and putting switched lights in the two new closets. His design ideas and recommendations for cabinet design, lighting fixtures, and even the vent fan selection were spot on, and the workmanship was excellent. He and his helpers showed up on time, kept the work area clean, and completed the project on time and on budget. I would not hesitate to engage him for additional projects. In fact we are in discussion with him now for some more upgrades to our house.

Custom Home Works has remodeled our kitchen, 3 baths, and added a beautiful sunroom to our home. They have great ideas and design solutions. We were greatly impressed with the quality workmanship, materials, and compatibility of the whole team. There were no surprises in the proposed cost estimate and the work completion. I recommend them highly!!

Owner came to my house so a quote could be prepared for a countertop and backsplash, and told me what a nice job they could do on my kitchen. I checked with him after 9 days and asked for an ETA on the quote. The ETA he gave me has long come and gone. I have never heard from him again. This was a total waste of my time that this contractor obviously has no respect for.j

They performed a complete kitchen remodel, including new cabinets, flooring, tile, lighting, plumbing and countertops. Bill developed a kitchen plan for us based on our desire to use the existing space in our house. They removed part of a wall between the kitchen and dining room and installed new cabinets, granite countertops, walls, lighting, plumbing, and tile. As part of the project, they also replaced the gas pipe from the meter to the water heater and the range. We felt they were professional, punctual, attentive to our needs and wants, and kept the work area clean. Jeff was our main contact during this project, coming to our home most days when work was being performed. We would recommend them and we are likely to hire them again in the near future.
