My daughter purchased an older home near Lake Erie and both the bulkhead door and the man door leading to the basement were in dire need of replacement. After calling several hardware stores and Modern Builders Supply, I was referred to First Class Construction, Inc. Within a couple of days, I got a call from Matt and set up an appointment. My daughter and I met with Matt and decided right away that we wanted him to do the work. A proposal was sent via email, approved quickly, and the doors were ordered. Due to adverse weather, it was not possible to install the doors immediately. But, as soon as the weather improved, Matt worked a couple of long days to install them. When my daughter came home from work, she told me she felt a lot safer with the doors in place and also could not believe the difference the doors made in keeping her basement warm. My daughter is now scheduling a time for Matt to come out and give another estimate . . . this time for a much-needed bathroom update. I also cannot say enough about Dawn, the office manager. She was extremely professional and her response time to my emails was almost immediate. We have had a very positive experience with First Class Construction and we are delighted with the outcome of the project. Our project was the replacement of toilets and showers in 2 bathrooms, plus another bathroom with major structural modifications for layout and modifying a bedroom to become a large walk-in closet adjacent to the master bedroom. Matt Urbas and his crew carried out the project consistent with the original concept, stayed on timetable, and the outcome is excellent. We have had contractors before. This time was different and now we get what it means to have a contractor who is a true “pro.” Workers showed up on time every day. The work area was screened off with plastic to protect floors; plastic screening and interior air filters were used to prevent drywall dust from traveling throughout the house. Lumber that was used in framing was ‘A-grade’ 2X4, not the knotty junk you see at the big-box hardware stores. Over the course of the project, we made a few additional requests – we noted some water damage in one area of ceiling which we wanted repaired, and we wanted an old door-jamb replace. No problem – these were added to scope. The ceiling repair was handled during the course of the bathroom project. The door-jamb was scheduled separately just a short time later. All good. Matt and crew were referred to us by a friend who is an architect, and he had worked with Matt on another project. We aren’t ultra-picky people but we do want things done the right way. Our friend felt that ‘First Class Construction’ would do just that and he was absolutely correct. We offer a 100% confident endorsement of First Class.

1st Class Construction performed a complete kitchen remodel in our home in mid 2019. The project was done in accordance with a statement of work with material specifications that I provided. 1st Class Construction's work scope included all remodeling work less the cabinets which I contracted separately. Several changes to the initial work scope were requested during the job and the cost and timing for these changes were negotiated in a fair manner. All issues that arose either during the project or after completion were addressed in a prompt and satisfactory manner. The Contractor is easy to work with and is very knowledgeable and provided several recommendations to improve the project. The quality of work performed was very good and when completed we were very pleased with the final product.

He was highly recommended by others in our neighborhood and after consulting with him we had no hesitation in contracting with him. His employees are highly skilled, professional and conscientious in their work. All concerns and phone calls were taken care of promptly. Everyone is is competent and dependable. They also respected our property and took care to clean up every night. We are very happy and pleased with our master bath remodel project. We received many compliments and can highly recommend First Class Construction with complete confidence.

The project was a complete bathroom renovation including removal and replacement of all tile (floor, tub deck, shower walls) and replacement of shower enclosure and fixtures. Replacement of jacuzzi tub and fixtures and commode. Refacing cabinets doors and drawers and painting entire bathroom. The quality of work done by First Class Construction and subcontractors they used was excellent. The neatness and craftsmanship was outstanding.. They ensured that the completed work was exactly as we wanted it to be. From the outset Matt, the owner, explained in detail what would be done and provided a complete cost breakdown for the work. He and his staff, and subcontractors, were very easy to work with. We wouldn’t hesitate to utilize them for any future projects.
