About The Doctor Owned and founded by Shane Varnell, Dr. Green Thumb began forming as an idea early in his childhood when he started mowing lawns to earn spending money. Continuing on to Oklahoma State University, he ran a small landscaping business of his own, cornering a unique niche of landscape installation and maintenance at local doctors’ offices. Post graduation, Shane continued to include landscape projects as a hobby, but his line of work took a different path. He led a very successful career in the automobile industry where he had the opportunity to work for a company known for their superior customer service, the Sewell Organization. During his seven years with Sewell, he received extensive training on the art of customer service, an education that would prove to be invaluable in his business today. Even with a thriving career, Shane’s desire to own and operate a full service landscaping company remained strong. In the spring of 2007, he realized his dream, and is now fulfilling his passion for the outdoors, plant life and creative design. Shane brings to his business a countless amount of talent, a love for what he does, and the profound desire to make sure every customer is completely satisfied. By being a very devoted family man, father of two boys 8 and 10, and a dedicated football coach for a Deer Creek Optimist little league football team, Shane applies the values he teaches his team and his children to his every day business life–values like honesty, integrity, and going beyond what is expected. He has been happily married for thirteen years to his wife Natalie, also a graduate of Oklahoma State, who manages everything that happens INDOORS at Dr. Green Thumb Landscapes. An active real estate agent with Keller Williams Elite, she knows what it takes for people to love their house.
