Honest Hunter Springs Review , I signed a contract back in November to have drainage installed in my backyard due to flooding. After asking Scott multiple times ”Could you let me know how much you think this would change the cost?” No revisions or change orders were made to the contract. Scott contacted me June 4th 2 weeks before the project was going to start regarding the project. I told him that if it is more than the initial cost do not install the landscaping. Still no change order. Scott agreed and said “It all goes to the same pot.” Workers showed up at my house on a Thursday morning. I was not home. My wife introduced herself to Dan and EJ. They explained the project to her. Not once stating an added cost or additional work. The next day I called Scott regarding doing a future project, he never mentioned any added cost. The same day I asked Dan if the landscaping was included in the contract. He said yes that it was included in the contract. I received an additional bill for $2500 that I never authorized with a change order. The project was completed and I called Scott regarding this added cost. Scott said “You are a teacher you are not stupid” you should have known that it was going to to cost more. I would highly recommend no one to do business with Hunter Springs. I am absolutely appalled that no change order with price or even a quote was given.

Our October project was one of several projects completed with Hunter Springs over the past two years. At the onset, Scott and his managers worked with us to create a plan for updating our entire property, including: drainage, lightscaping, bed design, fertilizer and soil, weed control, tree maintenance and plant materials. We appreciate their work ethic, enthusiasm and expertise. Last month Hunter Springs successfully reworked our most-established beds by dividing and transplanting (several dozens of) overgrown perennials to create a balanced, aesthetically-pleasing garden. They did this while having to work around two sets of electrical wiring, the irrigation lines and several other "legacy" obstacles -- in the pouring rain! We are so please with the result. Their placement of the plants was spot on and perfectly reflected the feeling and look I hoped to achieve. The entire team understands our goals and executes our shared vision to a tee. If they ever have a question and want to confirm something while they are working, they ask. What's more, they check-in with me at the end of the day to review the work completed. Then I receive a follow-up call the next morning to review any outstanding items and make sure everything went as I'd hoped. It is a pleasure to work with a team of such conscientious, nice people.

We have to take a moment and brag about how awesome Hunter Springs Landscape Company is. Design and follow through on detail is the best we have ever experienced from a contractor we have dealt with. We have had 3 significant projects done with HSLC. Backyard drainage in 2010, our yard is on a hill and we could not walk in the backyard until June until their team put in the drainage. There were no water issues after that project inside or outside the house. The back patio and front walkways in 2013, we had 30+ year old walkways up front and no living space in the backyard. Now we have a wonderful patio to entertain plenty of guests. BUT, those projects do not hold a candle to the complicated project of this year (2015) of putting a pool and 1600ft of patio living space into the side of a 16ft elevated hill with natural springs reeking havoc during the 3rd rainiest June on record. HSLC did it and they did it to perfection because I have a feeling that is all the owner and project managers will accept from their work. We had an outdated above ground pool at the top of our yard. In 2014 we brought the idea of putting in an in ground pool to Scott Schaal. Scott and Lisa came out and measured and listened to what we wanted from a space that would be 40feet away from the house. They came back to us a few weeks later with a computer design developed by Lisa at HSLC that simply took our breath away. Once HSLC came onsite and started their work we learned how Scott Schaal trained his people. We got to see EJ Smith everyday on the project and his professionalism was first class. EJ listened, he asked our opinion and his follow through was exceptional. The pace of the project moved as well as it could with all the rain we had in the spring of 2015. The project was close to completion by the end of June; within the timeline EJ and Scott said it would be. Then the evening of June 30th happened and we had 3 inches of rain in less than 2 hours. It was a catastrophic loss! The final touch that seals the pavers together (poly sand) had not been installed because we needed a few days of completely dry weather. There was a mudslide (remember, this pool went into the side of a hill) that poured over the pavers and ruined their work. I sent Scott pictures that evening and the next morning there were no less than 7 team members here to assess the situation. It was so bad I couldn’t tell my wife. Without complaint Scott Schaal, EJ and Scott “Fitz” assured us that this will be handled and handled it they did. They tore up ¾ of the pavers they laid down because once mud got into the cracks they had to start over. They tore up the pavers, rinsed them, pulled up all the aggregate to be sure there was no organic material left behind from the mudslide. My wife, Jennie, and I were amazed at how there was no complaining, nobody liked it but we all knew this would be good conversation for the future. We cannot say enough about this company. We walk out of our home and look into a beautiful oasis held together by beautiful natural boulders. We relax beside a private pool surrounded by the perfect mix of plants and trees. And the lighting! We cannot say enough about how perfect the nightscape is. I can’t believe we were going to hold off on the lighting. It is truly the cherry on top of this project. Jennie and I have been to a number of resorts around the world and we feel like we have one of those first class pools in our own backyard. It would be nice if a drink service that came along with the designs. Hunter Springs has got to be one of the top landscape design companies in all of CNY and we know HSLC will be the only choice for our outdoor projects.
