Urbanleaf Landscapes is the ultimate one stop landscaping company! Their in house architects designed our plans and their construction crew executed beautifully. The owner and employees are professional, friendly, and patient. They talked me through the process and walked the site with me, before, during, and after. Highly recommend!!

Tim has great knowledge of plants, Raul is great at installation, but the administrative side of the operation is awful. Examples: - On the implementation contract, the numbers didn't add up (the total didn't match the items). - We clearly specified the scope of work to multiple people, but the initial plans had items outside the scope. - We paid a lot for drawings that ended up not matching the site. - After traveling to their office to pick materials, NONE of the materials were available at the yard they sent us to. It was a complete waste of time, both for us and them. We should have started at the supply yard. - They overcharged us $1,200 on one invoice due in part to how horrible their invoicing system is. That's just a sample. If you work with them, be prepared to spend a lot of effort to make sure they are doing the job, but if you can get through that, and get enough of Tim's time and Raul to install, you'll like the result.

I had a complete makeover for my backyard. I’ve converted it into a drought-resistant landscape with new irrigation for my plants. In addition, they designed and built my pergola with heaters and lights so I could be outside year-round. My yard turned out really amazing. I am confident you will be very pleased with your landscape job if you use them.

We have done many home improvement projects and this is the first time we were going to pay the big bucks to have a professional design/build firm take care of everything and guide us through the whole project. Our excitement was short lived as we starting working with the designer and realized how much work we would still need to do if we were to get what we wanted. Unfortunately, working with Landsystems / Metasequoia has been the worst experience. Far worse than I could have ever imagined. They were unreliable, unorganized, used inexperienced subs, and over billed. During the design process, we worked with three different designers because of staff changes. Each time was like starting new and getting to finally break ground was painfully slow. Unfortunately, that wasn't the worse of it. We had a lot of hardscape and drainage in our project.. I think Landsystems was in over their head, but never said anything. We have a small lot and the area they are working was only about 650 sq ft. They did not build to their design elevations and therefore things were sloped where they shouldn't be and simply put, things were off. The concrete walls/planting boxes they built began to crumble and crack within a few days. The solution was to hire a sub to stucco over the concrete walls. The person they hired to do the stucco was shocked at the poor work done by Landystems and stated that what they are incorrect to make the concrete walls at the height they were because they will crack. It was appalling that the owners at Landsystems were fine to sign off on this work. They wouldn’t accept fault for any of the shoddy work. We had a drain that was supposedly finished, but came to find out that it was never connected to a pipe. So many rookie mistakes from what we thought to be a reputable firm. Meanwhile, they are very prompt at asking for payment prior to work being done. I wrote checks weekly to keep things moving along. So, I’m paid up on a project that isn’t finished and needs to be totally demo and re-done because of the errors and carelessness of Landsystems.

After interviewing several companies, our family chose Landsystems for our design and build. They had great communication throughout the entire project and kept us updated timely. I would highly recommend them!

We used Landsystems to redo our backyard. We added a large pergola, new hardscaping, lawn, lots of new plants and trees complete with high-tech watering system and lighting. Tim’s and his team were always on time, professional and extremely competent. They took care of all permitting and administrative stuff. Everything was tracked online so I was able to see timing and cost at anytime. They came up with a beautiful concept and the most amazing part is that they were on budget! I highly recommend Landsystems for all your landscaping needs.

We have been working on a home renovation plan for quite a while. As part of the process, we wanted to re-energize our yard and Landsystems was brought in to reimagine our front and back gardens. From the beginning, we felt at ease with Tim. He was direct, forthcoming, and took us to see his work locally. After our initial design phase, Landsystems was able to engage on demo and preliminary permitting right away (which we really appreciate considering the pandemic environment and most materials/labor on delay). They've been very communicative throughout the process and continuously help us find ways to have a cohesive design while maintaining a budget. We're excited for the final product and will update this review at that time.

For a very long time, my husband and I have been wanting to completely re-landscape both our front and back yards with drought-tolerant, low-maintenance, and beautiful plantings. We engaged Landsystems Landscapes to develop a plan, and Tim Vine has been a delight to work with. He has been able to take the “blank canvas” of our yard and develop a plan that is exactly what we want, but don’t have the knowledge to create for ourselves. He has listened carefully to our initial goals for the project, and has incorporated all of our suggestions for revisions into a great plan that we’re really excited about. The planning process has gone smoothly and efficiently since we began. Now we’re looking forward to installation!

Working with Tim and the team at Landsystems Landscapes has overall been a pleasure. The designs and reviews were prompt and reflected the input and guidance that we provided in terms of color, budget and timing. There was time spent listening and then taking that in to account when doing the plans while also being professionally honest when the ideas didn't line up with the quality that Landsystems looks to be associated with. Once the designs were done the execution was done promptly and efficiently for the new plants and irrigation. Some additional asks mid-implementation like lighting and pathing were handled at a reasonable cost and didn't require much extra time to be completed. Seven months after completion, we are quite happy with the quality of how things are going in our garden (still early days). A few things didn't grow as expected per the plan but this is expected and we look forward to the follow-up review and discussion with Tim and the Landsystems crew of what's better to be there.

Save yourself a massive headache and do not work with this firm. Great salesmanship, but as soon as you begin the work, things fall apart at alarming rate. What went from a 12 week project, turned into 7 months. Budget of $50k, turned into $70k with no changes to our original plan. And the service experience? unresponsive, underhanded and never assumed responsibility/accountability for their endless delays and missteps. A disaster.

After staring at our barren backyard for a couple of years, we figured it was time to do something about it. We had interviewed 3 landscape designers, but in meeting with Tim he was enthusiastic about turning our backyard into a liveable and beautiful space. We had signed up with Landsystems Landscape and design proceeded immediately. We were impressed that Tim had captured the style of our house as well as our own requests for what we were looking for. After a couple of rounds of design review, we finalized the plans and demo/construction started soon after. The field crews were top notch, friendly and performed well. There were a couple of early breaks in communication with the assigned PM and frustrations with project billing, but Tim’s interest in keeping client relations positive helped smooth out any issues. Overall we’d recommend Landsystems Landscapes and would work with them again.

So pleased to be working with Landsystems. From the first prompt response to my e-mail inquiry, to the initial mtg, to the initial plan review and then to project kick off, entire team has been responsive, engaging, professional and effectively equipped to support me in my front and backyard redesign. We needed a landscape redesign for our entire property. I called Landsystems Landscapes and had a great initial meeting. I was interviewing several landscape companies at the time and really connected with Tim, the Owner. He was knowledgeable and wasn't afraid to assert his opinion. I needed that. They drew me a new conceptual plan for the property, which was a complete redesign of everything, including hardscaping. I'm very pleased with the design. The front yard is going to be beautiful and, since I live on a busy street, purely ornamental. The backyard, which is a good space for my kids to play in, has a great lawn area for them to run around, which was important to me. The concrete path leading from our deck to our shed and then to our raised vegetable garden, was designed with a lot of thought and care, so it's functional and beautiful. They did a great job listening to everything that I wanted and incorporating that into the design. I'm glad I chose Landsystems Landscapes and I would recommend them. Beautiful, beautiful plan! I can't wait to see the yard when construction is finished!

Tim and the team at Landsystems really do unique work. Not your typical design, not the basic/boring experience. Something special and something great. We have completed Phase 1 of 3 projects in our house, all the major exterior landscaping and the work done so far has been designed to fit our needs both creatively and matching our residence. Highly recommended for something that's creative and great.

We hired Landsystems Landscapes to re-design our back- and front yards. What we liked about them from the outset was their ability to envision the future design working with our style preferences, environmental considerations, costs and schedule. The construction design was highly collaborative and took us a very short time to reach the look we were seeking. Following that we went through the planting plans and again worked with them to select the plants that really made the yard come together. They hit the schedule we developed and were available for face to face meetings to discuss progress, changes, or just to keep us synched with their work. We found Landsystems Landscapes to be completely reliable, approachable, and really a pleasure to work with through the entire process. I've since recommended them without reservation, and had several walk throughs for potential clients.

I hired Landsystems to do a partial replanting and installation of drip irrigation of an existing, landscaped area that needed some renewal. They efficiently did a planting plan and evaluated and recommended a new drip system to replace the old spray irrigation system. I ultimately decided to do the irrigation and mulching and postpone new planting for next year. They were efficient, flexible and fair in revising the estimates and scheduling the work which was done in an efficient manner. They were easy to work with and reliable. I am happy with the work done.

Landsystems Landscapes is wonderful. They were very patient while I figured out what we needed in the back yard and then provided more than we ever imagined. They were on time and on budget.

After searching several landscape companies. We chose LandSystems to do a complete landscape in the front and rear of our home. We are very pleased with the results of the work at our property. Tim the designer came up with several designs for us to choose from. He is very knowledgable about the plants as we had a specific need to make sure the deer in the area would not eat our plants. Like others on our street who went with other landscape companies they have all had issues with the deer in our area. Tim Vine assured us that we would not have the same issues. He was right we have had no issues with the deer in the area. The front was pretty straight forward. It was the rear that was a challenge. We have a terraced back yard as we live on a hill sloping down, LandSystems was able to get the job done without equipment access to the rear yard. Tim comes by twice a year to walk the yard and make sure the plants are responding well and makes suggestions and replaces what is not. The design and the finish product were tightly in synch with our expectations. We are very pleased with the outcome and recommend LandSystems.

I hired landsystems to do a complete remodelling of my front and back. Tim, the designer I worked with, was very experienced and knowledgeable about all aspects of landscaping design. We decided on the main theme up front, and the design took several revisions as we explored new ideas. I had a steep and barren hillside for my back and it was hardly accessible. I wanted to provide cover for the hills and do the planting before the rainy season was over.It was a big project, but landsystems was very responsive and we were able to build the deck and provide the planting in a remarkably short period of time. The other part I liked about working with landsystems is the tight integration of the design and the construction process. This makes it easy to get immediate feedback and make the necessary tweaks in the design when we discover problems during the construction. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for major landscaping projects.

Tim Vine and his team at Landsystems have been great to work with during our design process. They have been thorough and thoughtful with the design and listening to our needs. The design plans are consistent with our discussions. We are in the process of demo now, and are excited to see the results of Landsystems creations. Highly recommend.

Landsystems helped us to redesign our back and front yards. The back yard was a challenge: a three-tiered space with a flight of stairs, decks, retaining walls; the process included hardscape and softscape. They were patient and helpful with numerous iterations of the plans, and our desire to do a lot of the building (decks, stairs) on our own. The plan selections weer diverse and not "run of the mill" which we are enjoying. The results are very close to our expectations, and we are tough customers. A year later they have been back to replace unsuccessful plantings and modify some of the plant placements. We are holding off on the front yard until next year due to other remodeling in the works, but we will likely use them for that project as well. Overall we are very satisfied.

The worst experience i ever had with a contractor. The engineer I hired to test their attempts at compacting the driveway failed them 3 times. they told me i could hire someone else to finish it and they would cover it, then refused. When the city engineer found they had mixed surface water with subsurface water, Landsystems doctored the drawings and ran a pipe within a pipe to try and fool the engineer. They were late paying subcontractors and 2 of them wanted to file liens on my property, but waited to long thankfully. In the end they sued me, but dropped the suit. Really an awful experience. They took all the enjoyment out of a project that should have been a very fun project.

Summer 2012, we finally decided to bite the bullet and do something about our “ugly” backyard. We love to entertain and it was time to design a backyard that allowed us to enjoy our time outside more. We called a few companies and were disappointed that so many of them did not provide the actual landscape design services. Most just wanted to know your budget and a few questions and came back with a bid. Our backyard has major slopes being on a hill and we really wanted to explore how to get the most from our space without having to take the entire back hill away. We then called Landsystems, as we could see they were doing work for a neighbor. Tim and Kelly (Tim Vine owner and Kelly Lau, our designer) provided a very thorough Consultation spending time with us to get to know them, as well as to bring us to other properties “in process” and ”finished” to get a real idea of their work. This made us comfortable so we engaged them for the design They have been great to work with during the design process, working collaboratively with us to understand our hopes/desires for the backyard while of course being mindful of our budget. Our design services resulted in a very detailed visual document of the future backyard as well as detailed planting and building specifications. The level of detail makes us feel like we really understand what to expect and helps make sure we are aligned on the project. Given our good experience with the consultation and design services, we also chose to move forward with Landsystems for the execution of the build. We’ve just begun so far so good, so stayed tuned.

We started working with the Landsystems team in an effort to create a more usable backyard and a better looking front yard. We had drainage problems and were eager to get the problem solved. After working backing and forth with Tim and his team to solidify the design and drainage plan we have kicked off the project. Demolition went quickly and very efficiently. The same, nice men showed up consecutive days and cleaned up after themselves so as not to disrupt our home any more than was necessary. We begin the drainage portion of the project next week and are very excited about the end result. Landsystems has been helpful, problem solvers who worked with us to create a plan that worked within our budget. I am looking forward to the other portions of the project.

This past summer we hired Landsystems Landscapes to design a backyard retreat for our family. We wanted a space that would be both beautiful and functional, a place for us to entertain our family and friends, but also serve as a private oasis to escape for some peace and quiet. Landsystems were exactly the right people for our job. Not only are they landscape architects, but they’re also contractors. So we knew that if we liked their design ideas we could also hire them to complete the construction too. At first, I worried that hiring landscape designers meant hiring other people’s own personal styles, choices and ideas. I also worried we would be giving up input as to the direction things would go or what we wanted for our space. However, with Landsystems Landscape this was never the case. From their detailed online project questionnaire to multiple design meetings at our house to gain a better understanding of our wants, needs, likes and dislikes Landsystems Landscapes has made the whole design process a collaborative effort that has been both enjoyable and educational. We have felt guided and informed throughout the entire process, never pushed or strayed away from our own likes and the things most important to us. They made sure that we understood each step and felt comfortable and confident with each choice and decision we made. Every person from the Landsystems’ team was professional, respectful, reliable and knowledgeable. In addition, the Landsystems’ personnel made us feel important and valued. They took the time to listen, explain and answer any and all questions we had, even if we asked the same question before or maybe needed a little more explanation or information before feeling completely confident and comfortable with our decision. Of course, a huge factor in our project was budget…everyone has one and everyone is trying to stick to it! Budget was something that we discussed with Landsystems early on in the design process. It was a constant topic and reference point that helped guide our decisions. Landsystems worked very closely with us to stay within our budget without compromising the beautiful design they had created for our backyard. By the end we knew exactly what work was going to be done, how much it was going to cost us and what the final product was going to look like. We were so pleased with Landsystems Landscapes that after the completion of the design process we hired them to implement their creative vision and construct our new backyard. Demolition began a couple weeks ago and we couldn’t be happier with the company, crew and workmanship.
