I’d give them less if I could. I asked specifically for a stacked stone to match our stone on our historic property, I even showed them the stone. They assured me it would be the same. I was at work when they built the driveway wall with cheap yellow flat stone . Not the dark gray I asked for. The driveway apron has collapsed that they put the pavers into and the landscaping didn’t last two months. They didn’t return calls and wouldn’t come back . I paid more for them than another quote and regret it - it all has to be redone .

From initial consultation to completion, a great experience. Rutgers extended the bed around our patio, trimmed out our driveway with hemlock, privetts and hydrangea, and gave our front entrance a much-needed makeover with hydrangea, holly and boxwood. On Friday, realized we had space for two more hemlock and five more privetts. On Saturday, they appeared. And all of this happened in only two days, and over a holiday weekend.

I contracted with Rutgers Landscape Design to have my front brick steps repaired, a new paver walkway installed, new landscape installation, and fix the area under the deck in the backyard which had poor drainage and was just ugly. Jeff Douglass designed a beautiful landscape plan front and back, and came in UNDER budget. The entire process took less than a month, and was handled professionally from start to finish. I could not be happier with the outcome, and plan to use Rutgers in the future for additional landscaping. I recommend them unreservedly, and would give them five more stars if I could! Rutgers Lawn & Nursery recently undertook the landscaping of our front garden in Lawrenceville, NJ. The job was overseen by Landscape Designer Jeff Douglass with Carlos and Henry Munoz as the Operations Lead and Site Foreman respectively. I am delighted to say that the experience has been uniquely professional end-to-end – from the design stage to execution. As a direct result of this experience, I will be appointing Rutgers to landscape the back and side gardens. In addition, I would confidently recommend the company to colleagues as well as friends. From the start, communications have been excellent – efficient, rapid and thorough. Jeff’s availability at the nursery and at our home, taking pictures, walking through the garden and reviewing the plans has really differentiated Rutgers from other service providers. The design phase – from the plan to the review meeting – was delivered on-time and matched the brief provided. Frankly, little modification was needed prior to execution despite having to deal with the challenges of existing mature and disparate plant material in the garden. Even delays to the job due to plant material not arriving on a timely basis were communicated in advance so as to minimize inconvenience. Carlos’ experience in guiding the implementation of the plan under Jeff’s guidance meant that the job went smoothly. In addition, the on-site team was collaborative and flexible. The design required precise placement of the plan material. Henry’s detail-orientation and focus on customer satisfaction ensured a job well done.

Rutgers Landscape Design did a fantastic job on 2 landscaping projects at our home. The projects included a complete tear-down of the existing walkway, stoop and overgrown shrubs in our existing beds and the design and installation of new hardscape and plants/shrubs. We were very impressed with the level of professionalism and competency throughout the Rutgers organization. From the owner to the landscape designers and the crew that perform the installations, everyone was committed to making sure we were satisfied with the end results of our projects. We were especially happy with the crews that performed the installations. There were times we needed to make last minute changes to the plans during installation and the foremen were very accommodating. Rutgers Landscaping did an excellent job on our hardscape and landscape project. The landscape designer really listened to us and her design reflected a good understanding of our wants and needs. The site manager and the workers were very respectful and worked very hard to complete the job ahead of schedule and perfect. I will definitely use them for our next project.

We had Rutgers fix an unfinished project that was left incomplete by another contractor. They cane in and designed the lay out to finish the project, and started the job about 3weeks layer they were very accurate on the time it would take to do the job! They stood by there word to finish by a curtain day, I had a big party coming up! All the workers showed up on time every morning they were on the job and worked very hard all day! Communication was excellent between the designer and the project manager! The job was inspected at the end and the set price stayed firm! I was very pleases with the beautiful design and the way it turned out! I will defiantly hire them to do future projects!

I was looking for a general contractor when I came across the negative comments about my favorite landscape design and nursery. Since moving to NJ seven years ago, we have used them several times for various landscaping projects around our home. They are always responsive, knowledgeable and very professional. They have a great warranty on their work and plants. You might have to wait a few weeks for them to come out in the busy season, but they always take care of the fixes!

I've worked with Chris at Rutgers on 3 projects over the last 2 years. My gardens, yard and hardscapes have been completely remodeled and are beautiful. He really listened to what we needed done and magically made it happen. The team worked hard and diligent to produce a spectacular outdoor environment that is complimented by every person who visits. We entertain outdoors a lot and are proud of the plantings, "outdoor rooms", and the new garden oasis in our backyard. The pool put the icing on the cake. We hired Rutgers Landscape to landscape the front of our 250 year old stone cottage. Our designer, Dave, was wonderful and really listened to us as we described what we were looking for. The installation crew was truly remarkable - going way above and beyond. I recall an unbelievably heavy stepping stone (not part of the project actually) that was raised and leveled simply because the foreman thought it needed to be done. I would definitely work with this group again.

The landscaping at our home was done by Rutgers, and I have to say it is the most amazing landscaping plan and execution I could have ever dreamed of. Our guests often say they feel like they are at a resort. Many are from Europe, and say they feel like they are in Europe, which is where I am from, and that is exactly the look we were going for. Thanks to all involved, I truly love our landscaping and amazing outdoor space.

I have worked with Rutgers Landscape on three separate occasions at both my office and home. When at the office Rutgers landscaped plant beds and enhanced our curb appeal creating a very inviting entrance. The work at my home included overhauling the existing landscape beds and adding some patio space to make the backyard more usable, which it has! Would highly recommend!
