The Landscape Studio

Salaam House is a new-build in Arab style on 4 acres that started as flat 'uninteresting' bush, which The Landscape Studio transformed into a network of walkways featuring water and shade, using coral and other local material. Linking a 15m oval pool via circular steps to the front of the house was a decisive means of integration. Contrast between sunlight & shade became a important feature. Retaining indigenous bush in a seasonal environment, at times harsh, also became important as did numerous water features to encourage birds, wildlife and insects. Ornamental and coconut palms were widely introduced and are growing into their strength. The constraint from the beginning was limited access to water hence Salaam is predominately a dry weather concept; select areas around the house planted with a white theme are the exception and provide a sense of peace and calm. Courtyards & shaded pedestrian avenues were introduced. Stone tables and benches dispersed over the garden are important features. The garden is still growing into itself, and we look forward to enjoying its maturity. We love it and are immensely grateful to Chloe & her team at The Landscape Studio for their excellent advice, guidance and patience over a number of years.

Landscape Studios turned my dry bushland garden into an oasis with my dream pool, gazebo, fabulous walkways around the garden among the indigenous trees. The team were professional, super organised and wonderful to work with. A process was followed which allowed you as the client, to own your dreams. Working around nature and the existing landscape was integral to Landscape studios ,and my, values. Every day as I swim in the gorgeous pool, I think of where we started and am so grateful to Landscape Studios for doing such a fabulous job. I would use them again and again and recommend them to anyone that wanted to change their garden and work with the existing natural beauty and wilderness.
