The name Appalachian Grit comes as an embodied expression of what it is I love and appreciate about life and what I bring to the table with my work. It may seem obvious that the Appalachian Mountains which are so near and dear to our hearts could serve as entrepreneurial inspiration here in East Tennessee, but for me it also represents a teacher from all of the time I have spent foraging for mushrooms, ramps and other medicinals in the mountains.
I have observed for myself the wonder and complexity of an incredibly diverse community of species, all working together, creating balance, and functioning as an important reminder of what we come from.
Our biology literally evolved depending on this kind of dynamic interconnectivity from the microbes in the soil to the foods and medicines we consume. So, as it is that we are nature and in our most suitable environment, we can be the more thriving, survivable, and GRITTY humans we were meant to be, unlocking our true potential for longevity and a prosperous loving existence. It is then, my endeavor to use the mountains as my guiding force to create lasting, balanced, and nutritive landscapes, from the soil up.
