I learned of Mike Koch through friends that had a very attractive patio side yard re-designed and built by Mike a few years ago. Although my house is older and more rustic than the work he had done for my friends, I contacted Mike to see if he would consider doing some repair, updating and modifications to my existing landscaping. He agreed on the basis that this would be a small winter fill-in project for him. However, as I began to see the skills Mike had, the project expanded to include two significant stone walls that he built from an on-site granite rockery on a steep side yard. I found Mike to be very skilled with a solid work ethic. He is conscientious, meticulous and respectful of the existing surroundings. He was quick to understand what I wanted and also presented creative ideas that were aesthetically pleasing. He kept me informed of the work as it progressed and when he would be there to work. I'm delighted with Mike's work and would not hesitate to recommend Mike and his work to anyone.

Mike and Blue Bear Landscape Construction are absolutely amazing! We are super happy with all the beautiful work Mike and his crew have done for us and how they fully transformed the yard. Mike replaced the long retaining wall with a built in bench, put down a new patio, a sitting area, built a pergola, did a big clear out and planted a lot of vegetation and really transformed our yard front to back. We couldn’t have been in better hands. Mike has a great vision on how to improve everything! He is professional, kind, reliable, responsive, and we had all the trust in him doing a great job. Everything looks amazing and we are extremely happy with all the great work Mike and his team have done! We feel blessed to have had Blue Bear Landscape Construction as our landscapers and my wife and I highly recommend them!!!

I am a professional engineer with over 50 years of experience in the design and construction field. We wanted to install a new stone retaining wall, underpin and reconstruct an existing stone retaining wall and replace our existing asphalt driveway with new concrete pavers. Blue Bear came highly recommended from various sources, so we gave them a try. Mike and Carly are incredible master craft persons in stone and paver work. They tackled all 3 projects by themselves and did an amazing job. They completed all work on time and on budget and our home has never looked better. We highly recommend them.

Mike and his assistant did an excellent job in remodeling our backyard. They turned our tiny outdoor space to a beautiful haven that now we can all hang out and enjoy hot summer days. Mike is professional, punctual and very reasonable when it comes to budgeting. We gave him a pretty tight budget and he delivered the best service within that budget. If you are thinking of having a beautiful backyard, give Mike a call sooner than later as he is booked up pretty fast. I highly recommend this business.

Mike and his team exceeded my expectations. They were on time, on budget, and my yard looks fantastic. Mike shared his own design ideas and really just made the whole process easy and fun. They left the site tidy at the end of each day, and always delivered what they said they would deliver - I missed having them around when they were done!!! I have struggled for the right words, trying to do justice to the hard working owner and crew behind Blue Bear Landscape Construction. It is great when someone delivers what you were hoping for, it is rare when someone exceeds that expectation. From the moment I met with Mike in Feb 2022 he had ideas and solutions for my yard that had been ravaged by floods from last winter and a drainage issue that saw our yard torn up. Within days of our meeting he sent 3D drawings and a quote, spelling out in detail what would be done and a tentative start date. Once the job was started it was an amazing transformation to watch. When a few days of excessive rain slowed work on a new retaining wall, Mike was still there every day checking on things. He was incredibly hard working, polite, easy to work with, had great ideas and a great work ethic. Our yard gave him a few challenges but he came up with great solutions. Mike did a wonderful job in our backyard, through some miserable rain and cold weather he was prompt and efficient the entire time he was on site. It was obvious how much thought he put into making our backyard live up to its potential as he would frequently communicate potential ideas while working in the space; making suggestions on how to optimize the layout for a look our family could enjoy all year round. I would highly recommend Blue Bear Landscape to anyone (and I already have!) Keep up the great work, Mike.

We had a major drainage problem with our patio which became a mud pit after every rainfall (which is a lot in North Vancouver). Mike did such a great job in recommending and implementing the best options for our space which is now transformed into a beautiful and, most importantly, usable space now. No more water problems! Mike was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we could throw at him. I would highly recommend him for any landscaping work.

Mike and his team did an amazing job in totally re-doing our back yard. Our yard had always been problematic due to its exposure to the sun and other factors. Mike put together a plan that was practical, creative and visually outstanding. We're absolutely thrilled with the outcome. Mike was excellent to deal with as well. He was transparent at all times, kept us up-to-date and worked diligently to complete the job in a timely fashion. We've worked with a lot of contractors over the years and while our experiences have generally been positive, Mike still stood out for his professionalism. If we could give more than 5 stars we would.

We had a mess of a backyard with so many challenges, from a steep slope to a giant rock running through part of the yard. We met with 5 different landscapers ( Mike was highly recommended by a friend of ours) and we really liked Mike and his thoughts on what was needed to transform the yard. Mike exceeded our expectations and it was an incredible transformation , we constantly have people walking by and saying what an amazing job was done on our yard. It was a stressful project with LOTS of unknowns and honestly Mike was amazing to work with and helped us through it every step of the way! He’s a great landscaper and a great person ! We would highly recommend Blue Bear Landscaping!

Mike completed a new driveway, walkway and landscaping at the front of our house. Mike and his team were excellent, helping to guide us through the early planning process to project completion. Mike delivered the work on time and under budget. But what most impressed us were the small things - quick responses, follow-through, and attention to detail. Mike took ownership of the project from start to finish. We are very happy with the end product.

After years of deliberating, it was time to transform a weary front yard into a functional, appealing and relaxing area. The name Mike Koch, owner of Blue Bear Land Scape Construction, came up in conversation as someone to highly consider. We reviewed his website, which is creative, informative, well organized and kept current. After reading favorable testimonial after testimonial, we reached out to Mike. Upon meeting Mike, discussing our project and reviewing his designs, we were confident that Mike would be able to create that balanced space we were looking for...and he did! Mike communicated with us daily regarding all phases of the project and he and Nick were always mindful of the many children that live in our neighbourhood. His ability to listen, and understand our questions and ideas allowed him to create and present us with a vison that reflected our thoughts and the best use of our space. Mike’s philosophy is that by working together the best final product will be achieved. The space that he created is remarkable. A space that we are proud of and will be enjoyed year after year.
