I hired this company to rebuild my small deck and outdoor stairs. As well the existing garden was burned and very unattractive. It needed to be removed, soil reconditioned and replanted. I approved every suggestion he made. The carpentry was just okay, I’d give it a 5-6/10 Very rough with screw heads sticking up, cracks in some boards. The garden failed. The plants were placed haphazardly, very shallow on a steep slope. The first time I watered them , they rolled down the slope. I expect more from a professional landscaper. It was a failure and the garden must be redone.

We’ve known Max for a number of years and have worked with him on two projects. The most recent project was a major transformation of our back yard. It included demo, a new fence, retaining wall, pathways made of pavers, stairs x3, planting and of course the initial design and planning phase. Max found creative solutions to an area where we needed stairs and part of an old retaining wall covered. No area was left unfinished. Our project was completed on budget and there was clear communication throughout, including in person update meetings. Max is easy to talk to and is open to collaboration and changes - both of which are essential to us. We will continue to contact Formation Landscaping for our future projects. Thanks Max for making our backyard a beautiful and peaceful gathering space!

Formation Landscaping helped us achieve our vision of a front courtyard oasis. Being an Architect, with a Designer husband, we had created plans of what we wanted. Max , Devin, and Saja were able to translate the drawings we prepared and were very easy to work with. They took direction when I wanted a detail done a certain way, and offered great suggestions when a detail wasn’t working. Their work was excellent and provided us with quality construction, on time and on budget. We would be happy to work with Formation again and would recommend them to anyone who was contemplating some landscape improvements.

Max and his partner transformed our front yard into a beautiful garden with a variety of well chosen plants and repurposing our existing ones with some rocks. It feels like an oasis. They removed our old sidewalk and stairs before replacing both of them with pavers which give it a fresh, contemporary look. Our front porch was quite narrow, so Max widened it and then placed tiles over top which looks magnificent. Prior to the work beginning, Max came to meet with us and discuss what we envisioned. From there, we received a digital map of the design. The best part was that Max was very flexible, incorporating the feedback from us until we were satisfied with the plan. Communication during this process was excellent and I believe we had 3 versions of the design until the start date. Max and his partner were on time, extremely efficient in their work, and left the yard neat and tidy at the end of each day. We are very satisfied with this company and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

I asked Max to design my backyard garden to reflect a small English country garden complete with Vegetable box. It is beautiful. A sanctuary for me with his selections of plants and creative layout. I was very happy and delighted. Max is helpful intuitive with creating my ideas. I highly recommend . I have asked Formation to come to my new place which I have just moved into to design my balcony garden and small entrance way garden.

Max is very highly dependable, skilled at stonework, carpentry; gives a clear, detailed quote, and sticks to it. He's also an idea-person, suggesting mods and changes that are appropriate to the site and situation. He often catches details that I miss.
